how much do think it would cost to take it to a machine shop?
Just petrol, dependent on how far it is
;D
Look a few ways to repair and it depends on teh Shop/ factory and the staff. Old school and old style trades person would have a few options...
The L/H stud will be teh biggest issue. Go and do some searching of the Nut and Bold suppliers in you area. If you can get a suitable Stud / Bold that suits in size and thread. Then a good tradie would be able to mod the the stud with out too much trouble and machine and fit to teh shaft.
Depending on teh tradie and how they feel... A couple of $$$ up to say $185 plus at standard Hrly rates.
See a motor rewinder if you have any locally... They may be able to do if you have teh stud etc..
It is all up to you NOW...

Re: Help needed with Gino Rossi MC Conical
Looks like:
LH thread and some one went the wrong way on the NUT !!!
Ugly score in teh base as well..
The shaft is part of the MOTOR !!!
So....
1: NEW Motor
2: Machine shop clean up and drill out tap and then replace with ANOTHER insert that has a L/H thread exposed and a nut to suit...
3: Bin and get a new grinder.
Rule Number ONE. If ya not experienced DONT do it and if you do and its TIGHT. Dont force it.
Put it down to a learning experience 8-)

Gday "lb"...Originally posted by 737E6B6B7A407D70661F0 link=1292415372/9#9 date=1292572941Been told I might have to replace the motor shaft and all up might cost $600 or so. If anyone on here knows of a place in sydney I can take it to in order to possible drill through the shaft and create another thread, would be much appreciated.
This shouldnt be necessary at all, unless the shaft is actually bent.
Any half decent machine shop would have the necessary tools to remove the broken off section of the bolt. No need to drill out and re-thread either. You just need to make sure they know it is a L.H. thread (clockwise to loosen) and they should have it out in a jiffy for you... 8-)

AND / OR as you are in Sydney give Bo_Ema a call as they are the probable importers and are usually very helpful.

Yep right hand thread on those, and a stainless steel bolt? take the whole grinder to an engineering shop and ask them to remove it for you.

Re: Help needed with Gino Rossi MC Conical
Thanks Mal,
I think you might be spot on mate. I should have logged on and posted on here before commencing.
Since the bolt actually snapped i think i may have to find the whole rod/shaft and not sure i should be doing it myself.
