    I think replies 4 and 5 might be of assistance.
    I don't have practical knowledge, just seems like the step you are up to.

    Sorry to dig an old thread up, managed to get a used kony e for a pretty good deal - figured I may as well give it a lick of fresh paint while I was opening it up for a clean!

    Doesn't look like clint has posted in a while so hoping someone can help, can not for the life of me figure out how to take out the gold ring, anyone got any tips on process to remove it?

    I could figure out the basic use and programming of the doses but they are a few things I cant do like reset the counter. Do you know how to do it? Is it in the manual?
    This isnt covered in the manual but theres probably a secret sequence of buttons that need to be pressed.

    If you want to reset it to ZERO - then the only way to do it is to sit there and press the double button until the clock winds back to 0000.

    Just place a post it note of the current reading as a reference for yourself.

    Nice work on the Kony and helful post! Thanks for the disassembly pictures. I second the comments that you are a brave man.

    I just got myself a second-hand Major E. No user manual came with. I could figure out the basic use and programming of the doses but they are a few things I cant do like reset the counter. Do you know how to do it? Is it in the manual?

    awaiting the GS3 to arrive shortly and soon to have a matching orange paddle cover.

    Just clears the top cupboards.  I never measured it so I was a little nervous when I brought it home.  But plenty of room.

    Assembly

    was pretty much the reverse, apart from the way the bearings and shaft were put back.

    All up it took me about 4 hours of mucking around to get it all apart. 2 hours of that was trying to work out how to get the shaft out, and not having the correct puller.

    Once I got the correct puller, it took me 5 minutes to get the shaft out.

    It took me 2 hours to get it all back together.

    Painting took the longest. I am a bit of a perfectionist in these things and my spray painting experience has taught me patience and preparation and more preparation. Same with wet and dry sanding. Dont be too quick to rush upping the grades. I used a 1500 grit to smooth it all out and then went to a 2000 grit. I then used a cutting buff and finished with a polishing buff.

    All up the painting probably took me 1/2 a day.

    Sanding and buffing maybe about the same.

    the paint was a little expensive. I needed different thinners too and the clear coat requires a separate hardener. I think that totaled $150. But if you were to buy acrylic and clear coat and thinners, I would say it would still cost you $100.

    Everything else I already had.

    Painting

    I used a 2 pack as it is supposed to be harder wearing. It did give me a better finish than I had achieved with acrylics in the past. However, it is pretty nasty stuff. I have a good respirator and it was only a small piece. But I wouldn’t be doing anything big with 2 pack without a booth and breathing apparatus.

    I sprayed with a touchup gun I have. It was only a small piece and I only bought 250ml of paint, so I didn’t want it to go everywhere.

    1) As it was brand new, I was fairly happy with the paint condition. I just rough sanded it with 400 grit to get a key.
    2) Primed it – next time get a tinted primer, dark grey is hard to cover with orange.
    3) Applied base coat;
    4) Applied clear coat;
    5) Wet and dry sand to make up for my lack of spray painting skills;
    6) Compounded it.
