  • Fierenzato T80 - cleaning and fitting new burrs??

Just entering into the coffee world and bought an ECM Laura 2 and a Fierenzato T80 grinder (both used). First question ever on this site - can I still obtain user manuals for both and if yes where please? Back to the grinder - cant seem to find out how to remove the bits above the burr blades - the adjustment gubbins turns a bit each way then stops - do I turn it clockwise or anticlockwise to remove - dont want to wreck it 1st time out! 2nd question: What is it most advisable to clean all the bits with to clear all the crud off? Already brushed off what I can. I need to clean it and then fit new blades and a new plexiglass - just dismantled the doser part and ordered the new plexiglass. I managed to copy a parts diagram off the Web but this doesnt help much and mine seems to have a few variances from the diagram which baffles me more. All learned help and advice welcomed from a new starter! Thanks.

To unscrew the top blade holder turn it clockwise, these grinder can be VERY hard to remove the top holder, go down to bunnings and by a boa constrictor (rubber strap with plastic handle) thats what I use to remove them when they stick clean the threads with a wire brush and refit

As Tek said, the upper burr carrier on these is very hard to move. You are pushing down the rubber grind adjustment button first? Should be moving in the direction of coarse marking on grind collar. There are 2 versions of the doser glass on these, the later ones had a 2 part plastic/metal doser lens, the earlier ones all plastic.
There was also a T80D, doserless model.I have the Nuova Ricambi parts diagram, its the same as the Fiorezato diagram on Coffee parts page.Thats where i got my doser lens from.
For cleaning i just use hot soapy water.Make sure everything is clean, and dry before re-assembly

        Tek & Kofekitt,
Thanks very much for the replies - much appreciated! Yes I have been pushing the brown plastic bit down. One more question - related really to the Model of T80 I suppose - mine has 2 holes opposite each other on the top of the grinder body, one with a narrow knurled edge and a tubular bit that stops at the top of the knurled bit, the other with nothing in the hole. Each hole is at 180 degrees to the other - i.e. opposit sides. Do you know what these are for - does it indicate model type? My doser is metal at the bottom and plexiglass at the top. Finally - mine was set at no.14 on the grind scale - is this about right?
Sorry I took so long to get back - been away! Many thanks.

The holes were originally used for a micro switch that only allowed the grinder to work with the correct hopper fitted (they had a pin on them) most have been bypassed over the years

as far as the grind setting goes, it could be ok it might not you have to reset it once you replace the blades

Thanks Tek - mystery solved! As far as the grind setting goes I guess Ill have to do a few different grinds when my new blades and doser plexiglass arrives - thatll make me buzz a bit trying them! Am I best starting near the finest setting? BTW Are smaller hoppers available - my original one is huge! Regarding the doser - is the dose size set or can it be changed? Possibly a stupid question but I dont know anything about the T80 at the moment. Also are user manuals still available?
I meant to ask before - do most csers unscrew the doser to clean it and how do you ensure its clean from the blades through to the doser?? A brush?

Screw the blades down till they touch then back it off about 1/4 turn and try from there, dose can be adjusted by screwing the knob in the middle of the doser clockwise for less coffee and anticlockwise for more coffee.

Small paintbrush is good for cleaning

User Manuals arent worth the paper theyre printed on

Cheers Tek - Ill get cleaning! I wondered why the knob in the doser centre could be adjusted - makes sense now.
