Hi all!
Now i know a quick search will give a million "what grinder should I buy" question and answers lol, and ive looked at almost all of them, but I know that im new to this whole home barista stuff and am thoroughly enjoying it and know that the grinder is the heart and soul of a great coffee, so I know that this choice is more important then my espresso machine, and that took months haha.
So basically, I have a Saeco Via Venezia that Ive had for a few months now, have a non-pressurised portafilter for it, and am upgrading the panarello to be able to texture milk decently, and I have to say, buying pre-ground" coffee for it, and dosing and tamping properly it makes a coffee as good as the staff at gloria jeans make, turns out im really happy with this machine, I know i will one day upgrade it to probably a lever machine, coz they are damn sexy, but for the next few years atleast im happy
But long story short, its time for me to buy a grinder. When I bought my espresso machine I had my heart set on a rocky doserless, reading up more I wanted a k3Touch, or perhaps a breville smart grinder... Then I wondered about the possability of the pharos manual hand grinder, as I have usually one coffee a day (double shot) 2 on weekends, and sometimes make coffee for family etc so taking time to grind isnt much of an issue.
What im looking for is a grinder that has minimal beans stuck in the chute after grinding so I dont get stale beans, doesnt make a mess everywhere and isnt going to cost me the earth. Im prepared to spend around the $500 mark, but dont see the point in spending much more then that coupled with my saeco VV at the present. I wouldnt be using it for anything but espresso so stepless would probably be better. Bench space is a little bit of an issue, but something im sure I could work around
Advice/suggestions from all you experienced snobbs or sponsors etc would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou in advance, and sorry for posting another "please help me im new" thread ;D
