Gday Headinclouds,
If the De Longhi wont grind fine enough for regular espresso, it will struggle with decaf, as you normally need to move the adjustment finer for decaf than regular.
Steve
thanks for the decaf tip, looks like i might just shelve it for now while i explore the joys of expresso

but im wondering if it might be useful to keep my old grinder
Absolutely! despite what it can and cant do, it still grinds. Husband recently took our grinder out (long story) which has made me realise the importance of having a backup for just in case, especially when a cup of coffee in the morning is really really really enjoyed and not just a habit.

i can see that some of the members have several grinders, but im wondering if it might be useful to keep my old grinder for decaf, rather than emptying beans out?
i just got a new smart grinder from talkcoffee and love it, im trying to decide what to do with my de loungi, which other than not grinding fine enough for a 25sec expresso through my silvia is still a functioning grinder..
what do you all do when you want to have a different bean, do you empty out your grinder?
