Re: Mazzer Super Jolly Advice Please!
Thanks guys - really good stuff.
Anyone know how I get the doser unit off? Ive removed all obvious screws, bolts and fastenings, but its still very firmly fixed on.
I got a schematic/exploded-view off the interweb, but it doesnt even show some of the bits that I can actually see, much less those that I suspect are there (and are holding the doser on,) but cant.
Thanks for your link SubContractor, that gizmo looks ideal (although expensive as you say,) perhaps Ill ask those guys how to remove the doser.
Thanks all!

Re: Mazzer Super Jolly Advice Please!
my spare blind filter fits the top throat of my supper jolly perfect
i can "just" squeeze in two doubles in the throat with the blind filter resting on a few beans and then it lowers to rest on the top just nice as the beans lower
a doser less mod would be nice
i made a RR45 dosser less a while ago with a plastic funnel. worked ok but looked a bit ugly...

Great advice!Originally posted by 153138383B3B0115312D33315E0 link=1306765325/1#1 date=1306799229Short answer is yes
However you will need to manufacture
1) an exit tube
2) a plate for the body
Once you remove the doser you are left with an unfinished look
My personal take is dont do it
KK
I have a similar grinder and just grind enough for 1 shot at a time and use the doser to un-clump/distribute the grounds. I use an extra basket as the bean measure and my tamper to sit in the throat to lessen the Popcorning. Enjoy your purchase!

Re: Mazzer Super Jolly Advice Please!
a company in the US has a kit "Mazzer Doserless Mod - Complete Bag Spout / Doserless Spout - G/9" for this, but its not cheap. Its in their section labeled "Espresso Grinder Modification & Customizing Parts". Looks like you also need a plate to close off the hole left behind from removing the doser, which they also sell. Seems like to do this will be similar to what you paid for the grinder.
I have no experience with it though, just remember seeing it a while ago. Good luck
Regards
Andrew

Mazzer Super Jolly Advice Please!
Hi!
Ive just lucked-in to an as-new Super Jolly on eBay for barely more than £100 GBP (listed without brand or model name, rotten photo - I almost felt guilty!)
Its wonderful, but rather large. Following advice from here, Ive substituted a stainless-steel jam funnel for the enormous hopper which helps, but heres the thing . . .
Would it be feasible to remove the doser unit entirely so I can grind diectly into my portafilter or french press? I grind probably 50g of beans max (if that) most days, and find Im wasting quite a lot of grounds in the doser chamber, which is sized for commercial use.
All comments gratefully received, thanks in advance!Tags: None
