I bought a Breville smart grinder today and its very good for the price. The price was even sweeter with a 15% sale discount.
Damn. And Im amongst one of two Sponsors who has reviewed it, have it available to demonstrate, and sell it for almost 17% off RRP when there is no sale.

    Welcome to CS!

know there are issues with it not being able to grind quite fine enough for some espresso machines
    Hi Drovers,

This was an issue with the early Smart Grinders, but has now been addressed by Breville.

Thats not to say that you may be unlucky to come across a retailer with old stock from the first generation.

If you buy from a good specialty coffee retailer the grinder will have been bench tested before you buy it and this wont be problem for you.

The problem can also be easily be rectified with a Shim kit - also available from your friendly specialty coffee retailer

    Matt

Ive been reading a lot of reviews

about the smart grinder and it really seems like a good buy.

For my sister Im thinking it would be a good first grinder. I know there are issues with it not being able to grind quite fine enough for some espresso machines but this isnt an issue for her as she will be pinching one of my plungers to use. It looks really easy to clean too which is good!!!!

I dont think that there is anything else in this pricerange that is as good is there?

Id put the vote out for the Breville just for ease of use for your sister. The LCD screen is very informative and would make it easier for her to control.

umm.. aside from breville smart, you can get the mahlkonig vario, buts its expensive.. you can also get the rocky, but I am not sure if its better than the smart.

I can only recommend the smart.

sorry I cant be of any help

    Simple grinder

    Hi all

I am going to get a grinder for my sister as she is venturing into the land of real coffee after drinking instant (ew) for the past few years.

I have a lux grinder and was going to get her one of those but I am thinking it might be easier if i get her something which has labels on the grind types rather than just numbers. For example stating "plunger, drip, espresso" and then having various settings within those sections.

I know that the brevelle smart grinder has this - can anyone recommend any other grinders that do? Something not to expensive
Working...
