Might sound unconventional to some but I recently discovered a way to clean out my EM450 in about 3 seconds.
Basically, you remove the rubber attachment (for domestic groups) and attach a vacuum cleaner to the spout. Mine has a plastic end that plugs into the steel telescopic rod, so I use that and its a perfect fit (I give it a wipe around the rim first for the "yuck" factor).
Then turn the vacuum cleaner on for about 3 seconds. It sucks out just about every little grind both on the burrs and spout, and most importantly, all that hard to remove build up in the transport in between. You can also do a quick suck above the burrs to get any loose bits on top.
No more banging on the base for 20 minutes trying to dislodge gronds, or brushing everything out in the sink.
