Re: beans getting stuck under the lower burr
now that you mention it, yes on the K3T they get stuck between the burr and the bolt, but on the RR45 there was room under the bottom burr for a build up of krud.
I just thought that after so many years of making grinders, they would know the approximate size of a bean and not make any holes that size...
Is there any non-permanent foodsafe sealent/filler I could use inside a grinder?

Re: beans getting stuck under the lower burr
Ah... you mean a bean wedged between the lower burr "lip" and the big brass bolt in the centre. I get them occasionally on my K3T - theyre so firmly wedged there that I only bother trying to shift them on my normal monthly pull-down & clean.

Re: beans getting stuck under the lower burr
no, not quite - the beans are inside the grinding chamber where they normally fall in before grinding.
they fall in through the hole in the top burr (since its a donut shape). The hole in the bottom burr (also donut) is blocked by the bottom of the grinder if you know what I mean.
however, theres a "lip" or plate under the bottom burr that lifts it off the ground by a couple of mm, leaving room for beans to get stuck underneath...
If that doesnt explain it Ill draw a diagram!

Re: beans getting stuck under the lower burr
I hope Ive understood you correctly, but are you saying larger chunks of beans have managed to end up in the chamber between the burrs and the exit chute?
If this is the case, then I wouldnt worry too much about it. Theres only one exit path from the hopper, and thats through the gap between the top and bottom burrs.
If youre seeing chunks, its probably because some crushed beans have fallen into chamber as a result of the dismantling process.

beans getting stuck under the lower burr
Hi all,
so Ive had 2 "real" grinders now - a GR RR45 and a K3T and they both suffer (to different extents) the same problem: some beans (or broken bits) get stuck under the lower burr on the inside of the chamber. The GR was worse with a large amount of grinds getting stuck there too.
I thought of using some food-grade filler (silicone or something?) and putting a smooth edge on it to stop this, but it would have to be something fairly tough so it didnt chip off into the blades, but that I could remove eventually when I replace them.
Any ideas / thoughts?
thanks
