Re: Good enough entry level grinders: confused!

i agree with fresh_coffee - stepped vs stepless doesnt mean much. a good stepped grinder is just as good as a stepless grinder, depending on your needs. its just the low-end like the sunbeams which give stepped grinders a bad name. even the bcg800/rocky should have easily fine enough steps.

    the rest is voodoo/wankery imo

        Hi all,

Can someone recommend me an automatic grinder suited for Aeropress under $400?

I currently have a hand grinder, but making 3+ coffees a day is giving me RSI. It's time to go automatic!

Asica, a Breville smart grinder is probably the go if you want to buy new and stay well under $400.
Compak k3 is close to $400 but probably a bit over.

You should be able to get the breville for well under 300 and some have appeared here for sale for around half that or less, some new. The k3 is a completely different beast.

Keep in mind ease of adjustability of big grind changes if you also plan to use it for espresso.

Heaps of great info here on different grinders if you do a search.

            Cheers

Hi Asica, I to would suggest the Breville. I use the same here aty work with an Aeropress on a daily basis. Seems to be an excellent pairing.
