Yep, possibly you might not void the warranty. However, you may have to take it back to Europe to have sombody honor the warranty. I do not think that the OZ importer would touch it.

Not even an issue, If the motor blows this wont be an issue, as this would just be a general item so too with the blades, the timing mechanism, would just require ordering, I would say that out of a bit of decency the warranty would be honoured.

This thread has been off track for a while, I still think that the Mazzer is a far better value for money machine, the reasons can be flogged out for as long as one might really want, Returns for warrantly will also say a great deal, but consensus rules and really there is no point in continuing.

The final point is of course is consumer driven and if people are willing to pay extra for a machine that will last 25 years and a greater spare parts availability they will pay.

Threads tend to meander here and there. That is half the fun.
I was not knocking the Mazzer. I think it is one hell of a grinder. Some may say domestic overkill. But it is all a matter personal choice.
I had a few critics when I had two and three group commercials plumbed in and operating in the kitchen of the last house we lived in. For the last ten years I have down sized to commercial single groups.
I have had commercial grinders, bigger than the Mazzer on the kitchen bench for over 20 years.

I still recommend to check with the local office regarding warranty issues for any type of equipment self imported. From previous experience there are numerous products that do not carry INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY.

          Fellas,

regarding what I have just read above about warranty.

For all I know Saeco in Australia ***might*** honour a warranty on an item they are the importers of in Australia, but that was imported by someone else and not themselves. But, an educated guess would be that this is extremely unlikely.

Most people dont really understand what goes on in terms of making claims under warranty. They only see an item repaired for free...they dont stop to think whats going on internally in the system that repaired it for them. Usually, the importer simply carries the cost of the repair. There is no replacement for the part from overseas, and there certainly is no monetary injection from the manufacturer to cover the importers cost of labour.

What I am saying, is the buck usually stops with the Australian importer and he/she is not reimbursed in turn by the o/s manufacturer. It is a cost born by the importer. The cost of warranty is "built" into the importers bottom line and it is a real cost to that company.

Therefore, importers / repair agents rightfully ask to see the purchase docket upon presentation of an item for repair under warranty. If it is not purchased here, there is no responsibility for the importer to honour ***someone elses warranty***, and the repair is charged out.

IE, if someone assumes the role of importation of an item, they carry their own can.

          Regardez,
          FC.
