Back to the original question, is the Nemox Lux any good as an espresso grinder?

Anyone got links that I can read up on this grinder?
Entry level and with pretty big steps- At this level, get a Iberital challenge (similar but with stepless adjustment..)..With grinders, you pretty much gets what you pays for...

Re: Who has a Nemox Lux?

Hi Chris, Im getting that same feeling about the Nemox Lux, i.e. you get what you pay for.

According to this article, the Nemox Lux has the same burr set, so I suspect that over time, the Nemox Lux will have the same issues as the EM0480, i.e. grinds get coarser and coarser or simply inconsistent.

David Jones say that they can order in the Nemox Lux for $269 if I wanted it, but now Im not so sure if I want one.

Its easier for me to convince my spouse to buy a grinder from DJ as I have a gift voucher in my hands, but if I have to shell out lots of money and not be able to use my gift voucher, its gonna be a harder sell job for me to my wife. :-/

        Lawrence...

        You have two choices....

Go to an appliance shop and buy a "domestic" grinder appliance - poor quality, no support after a short time will turn into a waste of money.... but you get to use your voucher...

        OR

Go to a site sponsor.... get a real quality grinder from someone who knows what they are selling, great support and ongoing service on an item which will last you a lifetime.... and your wife can spend the voucher on a dress....

Normal retail shops DO NOT SELL QUALITY COFFEE EQUIPMENT!!!!!

LOL! I like that idea - give the wifey the voucher and I can get a real grinder.

Ive always gone on the philosophy of "Can I afford not to have the best?" as my logic is that if I buy something substandard, itll not do the job and that would be money wasted.

So I do agree wholeheartedly with your comments. And I do appreciate it too.

(Just quietly, my wife doesnt have the same thought processes....)

I reckon that true entry level for grinders- quality and longevity considered is the Rancilio Rocky...Cheaper grinders are more appliances and will last a few years before you throw them out...Set a budget, Lawrance and then purchase the grinder that best suits your needs after getting some quality advice...

DJs know as much about coffee as I know about running a department store chain so spend your voucher on some clothes for your wife and buy a decent grinder! :P :

Re: Who has a Nemox Lux?

Im quite partial to stepless adjustment. The main downsides to the Iberital are noise, and how long it takes to change from espresso to plunger grind size. If youre just going to be drinking espresso, then by all means go with the Iberital. If you can afford the best, go with the K10 or Robur.

                Hey Chris,

Maybe you could start selling make-up and fashion accessories etc....

You probably know as much about these items as the retail shops know about coffee equipment!

And how many people would go to an outlet called "Talk Coffee" to buy such items???? Well then why do they consider going to a normal retailer to buy specialist Coffee Items??????

                Beats me
