Hi guys,
Ive never really looked at grinders that much as Im happy with the one built in to my Napoletana. Howevever seeing a few Silvias for sale at a reasonable price made me consider the total damage if I decided to shift to discrete units. There have been a few threads where people have asked Whats the best grinder for $xxx?, but they only address the price point in question.
That raised the question with me of where the various different burr grinders on the market sit in the scale of useless to ultimate, and how much one could expect to pay for such a unit at this point in time.
Im wondering if fellow snobs, especially those who sell grinders, can provide a bit of a scale outlining grinder name, approximate price range, a recommendation of how good they are for espresso, and any relevant notes e.g. common breakages, burr lifespan and availability, etc. Names Ive heard thrown around the place are the Sunbeam EM0480, Sollis 166, Iberital Challenge, Rancilio Rocky, Lux and Mazzer (almost all of which are nothing more than names to me). Thanks!

. The prospect just raised the question in my mind; also I figured itd be useful for others to know in one thread rather than posting numerous price-specific threads.
Certainly if I ever am in the market to buy one Ill be visiting a sponsor, but in the meantime I had hoped to get a broad-brush picture of the grinder market so I kinda know what people are on about when the names start to flow.
