Re: Anyone heard of a DK-30 grinder?
Hi Pioneer Roaster,
I made up a plastic sleeve to insert into the bags, which has the dual effect of increasing the drop, and keeping the ziplock clear. There is an upmarket model which has a bag shaker, alleviating the `plug effect.
I havent tried decaf in mine though...
Cheers,
Chris

After buying one and using it to only grind 250gm bags, i would say to avoid them at all costs. Espresso grinds tend to block the chute if you dont tap it constantly, they get hot fast. And soft beans such as decaf collect in the fins of the ouside of the blades and cause it to need pulling apart and cleaning daily.
P.S. You can buy mine and ill get a Ditting for myself.

Re: Anyone heard of a DK-30 grinder?
Hi Metreo,
I am not a Turk :
, but I do occasionally make Turkish coffee...(or my version of it!). My particular DK seems to grind super fine...though I did do some adjusting initially. I havent found the adjustment to be stiff at all.
The Ditting is a far better grinder of course, but as with everything, you get what you pay for!
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Anyone heard of a DK-30 grinder?
Yet too see it grind Turkish successfully (or nearly any modern deli grinder - cant beat the stone grinders for good Turkish grind and great kemaki.Originally posted by stratford link=1165841828/0#2 date=1165869801They are built like a tank, grind well and have a good range of adjustment, from super coarse to absolute Turkish...
- METREO
Also the grind adjusters on the DIP are very very stiff and do not adjust easily.
There are better options around and before anyone suggests THE CLIMAX DELI GRINDER IS NOT ONE OF THEM. :

Re: Anyone heard of a DK-30 grinder?
Hmmm..I dont know Java...the adjustment on mine seems to yield a good range. Initially, I had to start with the wheels touching, and then back it off and align the knob, but I am quite happy with it overall.
As you say though, its a bulk grinder..
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Anyone heard of a DK-30 grinder?
I would imagine that because of their design that they are not suitable for making espresso as they do not have the degree of adjustment in the grind that is needed to properly dial in the grind for each bean and changing ambient conditions. They are designed as a bulk grinder, not as an espresso grinder.
I have a similiar grinder here (a Grindmaster 875) which is fantastic for grinding up 3kgs of beans for CP but I would never use it for making my espresso as its adjustments are far to coarse.

Les, at CoffeeRoasters sells them..

They have a few idiosyncrasies, in that they require constant tapping on top of the feeder to stop a `plug building up, and if you are grinding into bags, the ground coffee tends to clog up the ziplock..but they are a fast, efficient grinder...
Bit big for the kitchen bench though..

Chris

Re: Anyone heard of a DK-30 grinder?
Made by a company called DIP in Romania go to this link:
http://www.dipgrinders.ro/dipeng/index.php@id=58,0,0,1,0,0.htm
They are a clone of a Ditting Grinder (KR804):
go to this link:
http://www.dittingswiss.ch/en/produkte.asp?sub=p_l804
These are deli or shop grinders - and are used by these stores to grind the customers coffee to any degree of fineness or coarseness they desire (from espresso to percolator). These are for their customers who do not have their own grinders at home.
The DIPs are OK but if you had the cash you would go for the Ditting everytime.
If you are thinking about it to grind your espresso coffee at home I would say you are going in for an extreme case of overkill.

Thanks,
