    hi everyone, heres my mod...

i got a mazzer super jolly without the grinds tray so i bought a stainless steel tray for about $12 and got it cut at work to fit under the mazzer. heres a couple of pics.

hmm... me thinks that some modifications to my Jolly might be called for, but I have found that rapid dose technique works pretty well.

When I look at the finish on Markys machine, its pretty inspirational!

I guess it helps that the Jolly comes with a fair sized grind tray which effectively clips to the front and gathers any excess grind.

Still... Id rather not have any excess grind in the first place!

    Cheers,

    Pat

    Hey guys,

Tried the pf holder removal thing and its pretty good! I currently have the grinder sitting above the knock box that sits in a hole cut into my bench and its awesome. Any stray grinds fall into the knock box and when Im done I can just put the cover over it. I havent put a cross bar in yet, but Im not sure that Ill need to. With the ridgless baskets, the whole puck drops out in one piece with just a light tap. For those that dont want to cut a hole into their bench, an even better solution would be to use one of those knockbox drawers and keep the grinder right at the edge. This would have the added bonus of raising the grinder off the table a bit more, which would match the more comfortable elevated dosers on the Robur and Kony.

    Cheers,

    Luca

Got the mini set up over the weekend. Put a lot of coffee through it and have got the range dialed in now.

Must say that it has given my coffee a new dimension.

Getting nice long pours now with greater sweetness. Also no clumping which is great.

A little left throw but nothing that bad.

    Great "little" grinder.

Here is my Unofficial Mazzer Mini Anti-throw-left Doser Modification.... yes it needs a sexier name.

It is made out of an old stainless steel hand basin that was lying around. I made a template in OmniGraffle based on Thundergods pictures (thanks again TG!). Copied the template onto the bit of basin and cut it out with a nibbler. The steel was quite thick at about 0.5mm. My steel looks quite a bit thicker than the stuff that TG recommended from Bunnings (the thinner stuff from Bunnings would be easier to use – more malleable. Mine took a while to bend it to the right shape). Cut the grooves for the bendy bits (the bits that actually do the deflecting) with a hacksaw. Rounded the edges with a file, gave it a sand and Bobs your Aunty!

It took about 1 hour to do all the cutting and filing etc... The designing of the template took a while because it was the first time I had used OmniGraffle.

Im trying to figure out a way to put the Rio or Mazzer logo on the front. I guess I could make a template and just spray paint it in black but it might look tacky.

I really liked the look of Wushoess mod (also featured in one of TGs photos) which is less … aesthetically intrusive () … but I was scared of glueing something to the grinder and voiding the warranty. :-[
    Beautiful handy work mate!

Mine was hot glued on...so easily reversible mod!
