OK, you guys have convinced me - Im going to raid the pantry for all those "vacuum sealed freshly ground coffee" gifts and just throw them all into the bin. ;D

They just dont get that I may know what I am talking about.
It just takes time and patience.
Ahhh, Im used to that..... My lovely wife has never believed that I know what Im talking about :-?, but she always asks me (eventually) to help her fix some problem or another thats shes confronted with. Of course, I get no credit for any assistance offered and provided :,
Those are indeed problems with the gifting of coffee. Ive told people time and time again to use it with-in two weeks and even put it on the label (along with the roasting date of course) and have still had it offered to me more than a year after it had been roasted!
Educating people and breaking them of their habits is a hard thing to do. Keep at it though as theyll thank you in the end! Either that or theyll curse you for making them incapable of drinking anything else! ;D
Fatboy - some people like to treasure the gift - or because it is so nice they save it for special occasions.
I only give my home roasted to people who understand that it has to be drunk straight away.
I find the most difficult is educating them NOT to keep it in the fridge or frezer as i supply it in a one way sealed pack. They just dont get that I may know what I am talking about.
It takes a while to train family and friends out of gifting you with coffee. Years in many cases even.
To speed up that training what seems to work best is supplying your fresh roasted coffee for the pot at all gatherings and the gifting of your fresh roasted coffee at Christmas and other occassions. After a year or two even the most dense will usually get the point.
