I thought the mini-e and the M4D both worked with a grind timer - so as your bean changes you have to reprogram the timer anyway. Why is the mini-e so much less consistent?
Yes hat is true with the M4D however it also has a continuos use setting
so if you have the same time setting and you change beans you can give it a quick burst and top up the PF if that is required

If you also add
Exact amount of coffee ground to suit your PF
This equates to no waste from levelling off and several grams of grounds don’t go down the sink
I also have the Sunbeam and no exactly what youre going through.
I got mine as a grinder for work but have since replaced it with an MDF.
The MDF is quieter, not messy and if you know how, doesnt leave grinds behind. What I put in I get back.
Back to the Macap.
Quiet (anything is next to the Sunbeam)
Quality to last a lifetime.
Sweeps pretty clean and if you remove the finger guard you can brush the last few grinds out of the chute so theres no wasted/stale grounds.
I am thinking about upgrading my Sunbeam to something a bit more in line with my Levetta. Ive read some of the posts in this section and have a general idea of what some of the more up market models can do. One of the things I dont like about my Sunbeam is the amount of ground beans that go to waste as a result of staying inside the dispenser/spout after a grind. I have the new rubber spout attachment but it doesnt seem to make much of a difference, the more I tap on the top of the unit, the more the leftover grinds come out. The depressing thing is that they dont seem to want to come out until after youre well and truly finished filling your portafilter so you cant include them as part of the dose! Most come out the next morning... The other thing I dont really like is the mess if I grind directly into the filter basket and not use the little container that comes with the grinder. Given that I assume most higher end grinders are going to produce a better shot than what I probably have now (and that I only make milk based drinks at present), then I would say my priorities in a new grinder are:
1. Quality/durability
2. Least amount of waste
3. Countertop neatness
4. Ability to dispense the same amount of ground beans into my double basket each time.
I read a review on the Mazzer E which seemed to pretty well fit the bill but at that price there are quite a few options. Note: I only brew 2 double baskets weekdays and perhaps up to 4 on a Saturday or Sunday. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Doser or doserless is fine as long as doser is VERY easy to clean and there is little waste..
