So, with the recent discussion of the Masser Doser Spout Mod, I was talking to a friend in Canada about planning to do it. He had recently won an excellent value SJ off eBay and had ordered some replacement burrs and they had only recently arrived. Got to admit, one of the first things I did with my mini was to take off the finger guard!
He beat me to the punch before I could do it, he had removed his finger guard, disabled the automatic doser filler and had done the spout mod and also the vane sweep mod. So I did a bit of searching and found Temes blog (Teme at least used to be quite active over at home-barista.com) and followed some instructions over there.

This one can make quite a big difference to the results post-sweep. There are almost no grounds in the bottom of my doser now which is a good thing.
The only negative I can see is that I will need to replace them every so often, but like Teme says in his blog post, its a completely reversible mod, so even if you dont like it, you can return to factory with very little effort.
Total time for the mod - 10 minutes. Most of that was the fiddly nature of folding tape.
cheers,
James
