Re: simple mods for messy EM0480

the lamination film is a good idea, should be about the right stiffness and should hold the slight creases needed for the back corners; might hold a curve better than mine, too, by rolling over a table edge or something

I mentioned that mine tends to lift a little at the front
this is because the grinder turret tapers upwards ie its slightly conical, not cylindrical
pushing the front of my screen down leads the sides to angle in ever so slightly, which sort of matches the turret

if yours material is stiffer and the front is lifting too much, perhaps re-design the screen template so that the bottom edge is not straight, but the sidewall bases angle down by a few mm as they head towards the front tabs

Re: simple mods for messy EM0480

Did the paper template yesterday, checked the measurements at home last night and have done the laminating sheet this morning. Would definitely recommend the laminate sheet, its 80 microns thick

Has come out quite well (unfortunately the laminate left some streaks in the sheets, but its ok) and I scored down the lines that sit at the back of the grinder to enable the folds, plus have some quite long tabs for the bottom.

Not back home till 10:30 tonight so will have until tomorrow to see what impact it has on the mess.

Whilst my method is far from pretty, ive just hacked up a 2 litre milk container.

This is a mod that I have found works very well to prevent messy grinds overflowing onto the bench. I started with cutting a Styrofoam cup to fit just on the inside of the PF but then a Humphrey (a fellow CSer) found if you cut a bit further and make it a slightly tight fit it clicks on and doesnt just fall off. I have now adopted this method and it means you can give the PF a bit of a shake to level out the grinds then take off the grind guard and level off and tamp. Works very well!
          Hey Alistair

          Thanks for your post!!

We tried this today and I have to say this appears to me to be the best work around mod of any that I have seen.

Hardly any mess on the bench and 25 styrofoam cups for $1.60!!

Shall be doing this until further notice...
