I thought roburs were huge grinders that just grinds faster then other mazzers? or am i wrong, or does it grind at better?
The Robur and the Kony have a conical burr set. The parallel burr major seems to grind faster to me, but Ive never timed either. You get a few more seconds of goodness before the stream goes blonde with the Robur/Kony.

    Cheers,

    Luca

Might result in you being banned from Affagatos there Grendel. Or ulitimate payback, using the herb grinder to grind all your future shots when you go there.

Id have no trouble walking off with the 25kgs but running with it? Unless having your hands on a Mazzer is like drinking (insert caffeine-rich carbonated beverage of your choice here) and gives you wings, then I am afraid my shoplifting career would be brief! Id better have a full round of ristrettos before I make the attempt.

Actually he has a slightly smaller one on the bench - I wonder if hed notice if suddenly a Breville herb grinder replaced it.

What a great joke. Not sure Epic will see it that way when Grendel walks out with a grinder under his arm though.

And knowing how hardcore Corey is, Grendel might also need to be prepared to put in three-phase power for the beast ;P

    Cheers,

    Luca....

Dont know about Grendel, but most of us West Aussies have 3 phase power...
Ive got 3 phase on at home so all I need now.........

But Corey looks super fit.... and is a LOT younger than me.... kinda kills that idea (or me if I tried it ;D)

Nope... I think Corey might have "sense of humour failure"

Now how abour a Synesso? Now THAT would make a great Xmas pressie.

Trouble is I dont think I could lift it -- let alone "shop lift" it ;D

Roburs weigh something like 25kg, so I think that Grendels going to need to start working out! And knowing how hardcore Corey is, Grendel might also need to be prepared to put in three-phase power for the beast ;P

Hmmm the Challenge is sounding like a contender for my Christmas Grinder - must look at our sponsors offerings - any good freight rates?
I would have thought a Mazzer would be more your style

Now who has plenty? ----- Do you reakon Corey would miss one?????? ;D

    Good joke along this line.....

A young boy prayed for a bike every Christmas.... but never got one.
He then realised God doesnt work like that....
    So he stole a bike
    AND PRAYED FOR FORGIVENESS!!

    ;D ;D ;D

    Hi Splican,

Value for money and quality in your price range - definately the Iberital challenge as the two posts above suggest.

It will be a pain if you need to change from espresso grind to plunger - but other than that IMHO its the best espresso "only" grinder for sure. The problem is caused by the small steps in grind adjustment - perfect for espresso- but takes a l----o----n-----g time if you are changing the grind for a different type of coffee hardware.

There have been quite a few problems with the Sunbeam grinders but when they work they do work well.

Check out the site sponsors, several of them sell that grinder

I received my Iberital Challenge today from Talk Coffee. I am not sure of the price exactly as I bought it with my machine but fairly sure that would be in your budget. Give 2muchcoffeeman a pm and he will be sure to let you know. It is a stepless grinder so should your needs. Chris is a great guy as well. But other sponsors may be able to help you with this grinder as well depending what state you are in.

    Brett

Ps. Obviously Chris is a faster typer than me. ;D

In that price bracket, Id recommend the Iberital challenge doserless. You will get a little change out of $300. It is a great entry level stepless grinder with worm drive adjustment.

If you need to switch between coarser grind for a plunger and espresso grind though, the challenge will become frustrating as adjustment would take quite a few turns of the worm drive.

If youre buying for both, probably a nemox lux or perhaps the Sunbeam one (cafe series) if bucks are tight.....I gather that the Nemox has smaller steps than the Sunbeam.

Attilio (fresh_coffee) of Cosmorex can supply either, I think- and I can supply the Challenge. I have stock of the challenge with chrome body and you could check with Attilio on the Nemox...

    Hope this is of assistance
