      Re: Venezianos Xmas Mazzer Clearout!

      Hi Ren,

I have emailed/pmed everyone who has paid a deposit to say that the grinders are currently stuck on a ship in Port Moresby as it undergoes repairs. We are expecting them at the end of the second week in Jan.

As I responded to Sparky above, the grinders have Australian plugs.

We have been told that there is a mixture of colours. Whether this includes the more unusual colours, such as "champagne" and dark grey, I dont know. Im also not sure how many of each there are.

At the moment, I have three more minis that I can allocate to people and I have reserved another lot to package with machines.

      Cheers,

      Luca

I read this thread a while ago but assumed they had all gone but from your post it seems there are 3 left. Are these doserless?

        Thanks,

        Chris

          Re: Venezianos Xmas Mazzer Clearout!

          Hi Chris,

I got a flurry of interested responses when I first announced this offer, but many of them were non-committal. As the number of responses was more than the number of mazzers that I can move, we decided that the only fair way to do this was to take deposits and reserve mazzers that way. I still have three more grinders that I can allocate to people. If you would like one, I will reserve one for you on payment of a deposit. Its first come, first serve! I have a separate lot that I can package with machines for a slightly lower price.

The grinders are the standard, dosered minis. We also have a bunch of super jollys.

Id also like to take this opportunity to clear up a few PMs that I have received and insinuations that have been made that this is somehow dodgy. Mazzer does not have an exclusive arrangement with anyone. If you are willing to buy the minimum quantity, pay up-front and wait six weeks, they will make and sell you whatever grinders you like. There are quite a few roasters that import mazzers directly and provide their own warranties. The only difference between going through them and going through Saeco is that Saeco get a larger volume discount and, so, make more money than everyone else who imports mazzers ;P Our friends in the states ordered Australian grinders by mistake and we have been lucky enough to be able to buy the lot of them at a very good price. We have decided to share our good fortune with the coffeesnobs community. There is no difference between the mazzers that we are offering and those that you would get through less lucky people!

          Cheers,

          Luca

They arent too busy to answer more interesting threads, with some quite long replies. If thats more important than making a sale, or even simple customer relations.......

                    Hi Megan,

Over the past few days (my weekend and holidays), I have been negotiating with the guys to get some more mazzers for yall. This took a lot longer than usual because the people that I have needed to speak to have been interstate (on holidays). Im sorry that I didnt reply to you (and others) sooner than that, but I wanted to actually have something concrete to say. Unfortunately I have had some rather harsh responses when I have given equivocal responses in the past, so I saw it as a case of "damned if you do, damned if you dont." Lesson learnt; next time Ill just be prepared to be equivocal! Like they say; the coffee side is easy, the customer side is the real skill

                    15 Jan Update:

After repairs at Port Moresby, the ship docked today. It should take a few days to clear the shipment, but we received a notice that a few of the required certificates hadnt been provided. We have sent an email to our colleagues in the US and hope to have it sorted out so that the grinders can be sent off and picked up at the end of the week. I will post to confirm when they have arrived and are ready to go.

Ill update my spreadsheet tonight and let yall know how were going.

                    Cheers,

                    Luca

                        Hi guys,

We are able to sell a few more minis at the discounted price, and we have a bunch reserved for pairing with machines at a bigger discount. Once those are gone, order will be restored to the galaxy/marketplace ;P

                        Cheers,

                        Luca

                            Hi All,

Our mazzers have arrived and we have been testing a whole bunch of them. The minis are all silver and manual. They are also branded "Rio," which is to say that the mazzer plate on the back of them has been replaced by the "Rio" plate:

This is an example of the sort of rebadging that is pretty common in the coffee industry. Its quite funny that they didnt even make an attempt to remove the mazzer compliance plate on the side:
