  • Sunbeam cafe series - Grinder setting and Bean question

    Hi Guys,

2 quick questions regarding my new Sunbeam cafe series grinder,

    - What grind setting do I use? There is 24 options and I have no idea. I have the matching Sunbeam Cafe series coffee machine

    - Do I keep the beans in the hopper and grind as I need a coffee, or do I store the beans in the fridge and grind them cold out of the fridge as I need to?

    Thanks

Use the search feature http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1257241858 and or just look through a few posts...

Questions such as these get asked and answered almost every second day...

1: Read the manual first... It gives a guide... Also teh numbers are not exact so what may work for one person, may not for you...

2: What matching Coffee machine... There are many ?

3: Beans have a short life expectancy...

    Under teh right conditions;

    A: Green beans < 3 years
    B: Brown beans <3 weeks
    C: Ground beans < 3 min..

Storing in hopper is NOT good...

Lots of debate on the fridge issues... Do teh reading and then make ya own mind up...

First requirement FRESH BEANS... Then Grind siz, then Dose Level and then how hard ya tamp..

Do a search and find the posts on your machine... AND read...

Supermarket and franchise beans.. Are usually very stale.. Good for compost only.. In my opinion.

Re: Sunbeam cafe series - Grinder setting and Bean question

      Welcome to Coffee Snobs lawsy.

      Firstly, machine model numbers help.

Is the grinder an EM0480 and the machine an EM6910?

As AM has said, read the Instruction Book.
The recommended grind settings should be in there.
If you have the EM0480, it is on page 9.

I dont recommend keeping the beans in the fridge.
A cool dark cupboard is best in my opinion.

The instruction book says to fill the hopper for a consistent grind.
I found with mine it made little difference and Id rather expose as few beans as possible to the air in order to prolong their shelf life.

Its a journey and youve taken a few small steps; enjoy.
