I have a friend who has a Delonghi Prima Donna ESAM 6600 that he uses when he entertains and wants people to make their own coffee so he is not stuck in the kitchen making great coffee with his manual machine.
Problem: The inbuilt grinder does not have sufficient adjustment at the fine end of scale and thus the coffee draws too quickly.
I know that with many grinders it is possible to make adjustments to the grinder by adding metal shims etc to one of the grinder burrs. Is this possible with the Delonghi?
The question: If it is possible to alter the grinder, is there somewhere in Sydney that can do this? Or, alternatively, is there somewhere I can source a service manual to have a go at doing it myself?
Delonghis unhelpful contribution was that "the grinder is factory set" and that was the end of it! Damned if I am going to accept that though and write off the machine because it cant even make an ordinary (let alone extraordinary!) coffee for the sake of a grinder adjustment. Surely it must be possible to modify the grinder in some way?
Thanks for any assistance with this.
