i have a super jolly and really like it. It has really improved my coffee.
mine was also like new, but 2nd hand and not a mark or sign of any real use on it.

prior i had a rosi RR45, and the jolly is faster, quieter, and i can only assume better?

A big conical might improve the flavors again but the $$$ are hard to spend.

at that price its reasonable buying and you could resell it for much the same in the future if you look after it. you would notice the change from the rocky if its a good one i think

    Thanks for the input folks.

Got piped at the post on the BNZ so have had to go looking some more. A coffee machine tec has offered me a low work volume Super Jolly for $500, theres not a mark on it and could pass as new.

What do you think, I know its not a big conical but is it still a great grinder?

    thanks

Can I ask another question please
Is the BNZ conical stepped or step-less adjustment

    KK
Stepped - but tiny.  Some folks have modded them to stepless and its pretty rare that Ive wished I could move half a notch.
Very good thanks for the info Dennis

Chester, I have 2 relatively new BNZs and couldnt be happier.20gm in 4 seconds aint half bad, and they drop dead centre.
What is the price for a new BNZ conical ?

I am sure the BNZ brand grinders are as good or equal to Mazzer

It sounds like the one you have in mind is going cheap, and I would recommend replacing the burr set.

Actually, BNZs are known as tractors... ;D

20-30 years+ before the insulation may break down or tomorrow if you get the wrong set of circumstances like low voltage issues. Wouldnt worry about that mainly burrs and maybe bearings but I doubt it.

Commercial grinders are built like tanks compared to the Rocky which is a Hyundai

Another quick question then, what is the life expectancy of the BNZ motor, if its been well serviced and I replace the burrs. This machine has come out of a cafe that has closed down.

is the BNZ just to much overkill
There is no such thing in the life of a true snob

Make sure in the case of the BNZ in particular if it has been used commercially that it may well need a new set of Burrs. The only thing will a limiting factor is the S.O. approval factor on the bench space

would BNZ mean you never upgrade again?

its at the top of the coffee food chain (with a few others)

Compak K6 or secondhand BNZ conical

    Greetings all

Looking for a quick bit of advice, upgrading my Rocky and was leaning towards the compak K6 but have an opportunity of a BNZ conical for similar dollars.

Everything tells me the conical is going to help in the pursuit of coffee nirvana but is the BNZ just to much overkill for my couple of short blacks a day. Bench space isnt an issue.

    Any opinions appreciated.

    Thanks

    Chester
