I ended up getting one last weekend as well. I went into Harvey Norman to get it for the $137 that they had quoted earlier, to discover that the Rundle Mall Harvey Norman ahd 20% off all grinders that day! So I ended up getting it for $27, which I was quite pleased with myself about.
I like it so far, still getting the fineness of grind worked out, though.
    $27
    You should have bought 2.

My baby stops crying everytime she hears the grinder if she is sad. So maybe you can use your grinder as a settling technique for your little one as well

Wake the baby up now and go! Actually no, I know how long you have to put up with a grizzly kid when that happens, so maybe wait!

    Well,

I am off to pick up my EM0450 when my baby wakes up.

I rang around and ended up with the same price as you Spud - $137 from Good Guys. But given they are a little out of my way I rang a local place and asked if they would match the price. The assistant at R.T. Edwards Ipswich (where I am buying it as its much closer to home) said ... "yeeeeeaaaah okaaaaaaay I can do $137 - Ill only be making $7 on it though"

So there you go. Im happy with that!

    Cheers,

    Meg

I have had the EM0450 for a while now and have it paired with a Silvia and find I get excellent results. There is a good thread discussing some of the points of the 450 see http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1161409619

Good luck with the hunt for a grinder!

Let us know if you end up buying one, particularly if you find a better price!

For what its worth, my EM0480 has been faultless...

The differences between the EM0480 and the EM0450 are...

The EM0480 is diecast metal... the EM0450 is plastic

The EM0480 has the switch option so you can use it manually.. the EM0450 is just an auto switch

The Burrset is exactly the same!! and I actually prefer the base of the EM0450 than the EM0480 :-)

    Marc

$137... what are you waiting for... go get it man!! - the Delonghi KG100 has essentially been wiped out by the EM0450...

Im on my second replacement grinder because the first one i had started grinding finer and finer that it was till 0 and wouldnt go any further so got it replaced and has been working fine. You can find alot about the EM0480 grinder in another thread that is http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1138058473. Overall i think its a pretty good grinder and if you keep replacing it like someone said in another thread you would get a life time warranty!

If your just using it for plunger and drip it would make a great grinder since you can adjust the grind from one to another with the same courness that you had previously.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks Coffee Kid!

I notice you have the EM0480. How do you find it? Anything you do in particular to make it work for you?

The Sunbeam EM0450 is just a cheaper version of EM0480, The EM0450 has the same grinding burrs as the EM0480 just with different looks and without the auto feature.
