Re: Lux grinder - What to clean
Kinda puts the fun out of it marking everything.... what ever happened to lets give it a go and see how many parts we can put back in the right order...lol
Ok Ok.. FC you have a point.
But even other grinders get build ups where the vacuam cleaner cant get to or doesnt have enough suction to do the job..... Go the Pressurised Air....hehehehe

Re: Lux grinder - What to clean
Dont really see the need to dismantle the top end of the grinder except after prolonged use.
Otherwise, and particularly if the grinder is relatively new, the idea is to stop it building up grunge as much as possible, so dismantling then becomes less of a necessity.
To do this, I would simply wipe out the hopper with a dry soft cloth, regularly. You could also use the vacuum to suck out from the grind outlet. Then depending on conditions of your use, the type of beans used etc, you can remove the hopper occasionally and wash it in warm soapy water. While this is off, you can suck out the throat of the grinder from the top with the vacuum.
Realistically, if all that is done regularly, there is no real need to pull the top plate off.
If you do dismantle the top of the grinder, use a white out "pen" to mark the positions of everything you remove before removal. That makes reassembly a lot easier, otherwise you will wonder why the (arbitrary) numbering on the adjuster ring will not necessarily end up in the same place it used to be (eg you may have been grinding on "number 3" prior to disassembly, and end up on "number 8" after reassembly). I personally like to reassemble and end up on the same numbering system as before....its just my thing.
Regardez,
FC.

Hiya Franjae,
All depends on which entity your Lux grinder is. Mines a Nemox Lux and its "slightly" different from the Imat/Quaha et al models; If its a Nemox theres a screw in the base of the hopper. Carefully unscrew this and the hopper will come out. Careful screwing it back in again. A magnetized screwdriver helps. I dropped mine down into the burr carrier the first time I attempted it. :-/
If youre game enough to remove the burr carrier youll have to get a small allen key and remove the grub screw that prevents the burrs touching and also stops the burr carrier completely unscrewing. Once this is about 3 quarters unscrewed you can take the burr-carrier out completely. Dont totally remove the grub screw or youll forget your end point.
Best thing to clean it with is a vacuum cleaner and a small paintbrush and a couple of upside-down whacks with a gentle palm of the hand.
Just have a careful look around the whole grinder. Take your time and youll pretty much figure it out.
Hope this helps -
Warren
BTW Dont forget to unplug the grinder
