        Re: Mazzer Super Jolly Electronic

Hi can anyone tell me why a SJ-E is so much better than a Mini-E?

Id be REALLY pushing to fit a SJ-E in my space, so looking to the Mini-E; but it gets poor reviews - I cant work it out :S

        Slower grind speed I understand....
        But grind quality?
        Doser timer accuracy?

If anyone can giv eme the height of the SJ-E with the shortest available hopper, id like to know
        Cheers!

          Re: Mazzer Super Jolly Electronic

Grind quality is probably similar, but the timer is digital on the SJ-E and analogue on the Mini-E

Digital = you set the time using buttons and can be set in 0.05 sec increments

Analogue = timer is set by turning a screw driver - you cant specify an exact time

              Re: Mazzer Super Jolly Electronic

Thanks for the reply...Im guessing theres no way to shoehorn the SJs Electronic doser timer on to a mini-E..thatd be too easy.

It turns out the height of the SJ-E even with shortest hopper is still >60cm, so too tall for my cabinets. & Id like to have at least 100gm worth of hopper capacity.
              I guess its a Mini-E for me then. :-/

Did you know you can get a smaller hopper for the SJ E, like I did.

                  Re: Mazzer Super Jolly Electronic

The SJ-E is 510mm with a standard mini hopper. A super short hopper would lose a further 30-40mm.

Not sure about elsewhere in Australia, but they are almost impossible to find in Melbourne at present. We can get them, but there are not many.

                  Cheers

Just got my SJ-E from Chris today.
Love it. We have a mini-e at work and SJ-E puts it to bed. Heaps quicker, at least double the speed & no mess. Its not much bigger than the mini really. Especially with the super short hopper.
                    Thanks Chris

Hi, is it possible to modify my existing SJ to a d/less electronic?

You can buy a kit to add on the dosing cone, in place of your doser - BUT it is very expensive.
Im not sure if Mazzer have a retrofit solution for the timer, but you can use an external timer or if youre handy with electronics and 240V you can build in a timer on the grinder itself - its been done on someones Robur.

Any coffee machine specialist selling the Mazzer grinder will be able to get these short hoppers. I got a "medium" sized one that can take 1/2 kg of beans, but theres a "mini" sized one that takes less.

You should also be able to find these hoppers on eBay, but of course, its better to build a relationship with a coffee specialist rather than a faceless nameless eBay seller.
