Ended up getting my breville from Harvey Norman for $278.
Just as a matter of interest when did you purchase from Harveys because they were having a 20% off sale for small appliance which ran Thurs 28 Jul - Sun 31 Jun?

Would have made the price more like $240.

ah thats a shame, I bought it a week earlier. Price was marked as $300, I just asked the guy what the best price he could do and he said $278. Most other places in store like Myer, etc had them for $300 and by that point i just wanted the grinder after waiting for so long so i bit the bullet!

Well, pity you didnt approach either Talk Coffee or ourselves, who also sell this grinder. You could have had it delivered to your door for less than you paid.

Well I think a lesson lernt but it all seems a bit harsh pointing out how much someone could have saved. For those brits among us, it harps of bullseye "look what you could have won"

I am glad you like it, its worth the $278 you paid whether or not you could have got it cheaper.

well e61 promised to have it delivered to my door for $240, and theyre a sponsor of this site so I figured thatd be a safe bet. 6 weeks later, im $240 down with no grinder (from them anyway). Once bitten (online), twice shy.

Its a shame E61 have not rectified the situation.

Its not doing their reputation any good - I suspect coffeesnobs will give them a wide berth in future >

Actually Rusty this issue has been resolved.

Thank you for your opinion though.

Whilst you were not involved it the transaction at all, and as such could not be aware of any of the details, nevertheless your input was invaluable.

Thank You also Dennis. As always you can be relied upon to have a go at the competition. Interesting that the real issue here involves a product and supplier with which you have such a close and personal relationship.

My Apologies I didnt mean to come across as if to say hey look how much you could have saved.

I was more so getting at the fact of if you bought it over the weekend (given the post date) then you should have got a discount and you should go back to HN and ask for what youre entitled too.

$278 is still a bargain for how great this grinder is. No point living in the past just enjoy the coffee 8-)

Actually Matt, I believe and am very happy to have a close and personal relationship with all my suppliers. It helps me deliver.

Maybe you should change your mood from "Proud" to "Bitter" :

Still waiting for my refund from E61 though
Jesterx, when my SmartGrinder from E61 was lost in the post the refund came within a few days. Im sure youll get it soon.

Its a bugger that at least two of these have gone missing, did you get the grinders back from Aus Post E61?  I wonder if its better to go with couriers in the future.

Have other members had theirs go missing in the post?

                              Auspost are a worry,

Its why we use only express post satchels and registered with insurance if required on more exxy items. If both parties have tracking details, there are fewer shenannigans

Thank you Chris, well said. In this thread the following member has made numerous statements, the last one being:

The vendor in question has made a public response that the issue was resolved. I certainly hope that some public form of thanks will be coming his way.
Jesterx, you had a bad online purchasing experience, it was resolved, yet you continued to whinge and whine about it. You went and bought the grinder from a non-sponsor and still continued whingeing. Seriously mate, what will make you happy? Whether you realise it or not, your tone can and has offended people.
I am not protecting any sponsor, but so far I have only seen selective one-sided information aired, and no doubt any communication from the vendor has been kept private and confidential (As it should!). If you have a grievance please keep it off the forum. Personally i could not give a toss about where and for how much the grinder was purchased for. If you want to rant about poor online experiences, please take it to another thread.

I have bought coffee related products online from various vendors, some are sponsors here. I have not purchased anything from the trio who sell Breville products, so cannot comment on their service. I can make one very simple comment regarding postage.
You get what you pay for. If you are an impatient over caffeinated person then by all means seek out the premier delivery service. I do not find Australia Post to be quick, and have encountered numerous delays with them, whether I am sending or receiving packages. Express Post does not always guarantee a speedier delivery either. Items get lost, damaged and stolen all the time. It is a risk, hence get insurance if you want to be safe.

I no longer recommend any Breville threads on CS to anyone seeking information. The threads are bogged down with childish comments. Discussions, assumptions and differing opinions about a product are great, it helps educate newcomers. It also confuses the hell out of them.

Online bickering has one side that has not been raised yet. People  are turned off by it. I have numerous friends that have read the Breville threads here, pronounced them tedious, and all came to the same conclusion:
Do not buy Breville products from the site sponsors, go to a large retailer, and buy it from them, preferably when on sale.

Derogatory comments elicit negative feedback from readers, and also make your contributions tainted. Many do not want to join here, for fear of attacks like this.

Please keep discussion here relative to the product. Any grievances etc should be in another thread or off-line.
