Seriously mate, what will make you happy? Whether you realise it or not, your tone can and has offended people.
I cant imagine how his comments could have offended anyone.  Is anyone else other than this poster offended?  Longest off-topic post on this thread complains about the quality of the thread.

I am getting a bit sick of all this Sponsor knocking going on lately I have had dealings with quite a few here and have had nothing but top rate service from them all.

Lets not for get that things can happen beyond there control and items do go missing but when this happens please give them the benefit to respond by contacting them and leave the forum for things about COFFEE..

      Cheers Gra..

Im not a mod Gra but this thread is about buying and using the Breville SmartGrinder. If you have complains about how sponsors are treated maybe you could start another?

Jesterx, you had a bad online purchasing experience, it was resolved, yet you continued to whinge and whine about it. You went and bought the grinder from a non-sponsor and still continued whingeing. Seriously mate, what will make you happy? Whether you realise it or not, your tone can and has offended people.

I got my refund about 30 minutes after my whinging on this forum this morning. Sending emails didnt work, and I didnt want to raise a dispute in paypal, so i just came in here to see if anyone else was having the same issue. I cant see how my tone has offended anyone (except you). My post that you quoted was aimed at cuppacoffee/Talk_coffee because i didnt want to take risk buying online again because of the Auspost problems.

My intention was not to derail this thread, which I somehow seem to have done anyway, so for that I am sorry.

(p.s. i also find your comment about over caffeinated people on a coffee forum quite amusing)

On the rare occasions that things go awry between a Site Sponsor and a CSer, and resolution doesnt appear imminent, it is a far better thing to contact Andy as he is the man with the business relationship with the Site Sponsors who support this great site.

Its quite obvious that a lot of people are affronted by the so-called public whinging, so it would be a lot better for all of CS if these sorts of issues could be sorted out where they belong, offline and between the parties with the vested interests.

CS is all about great coffee and helping each other to achieve the best quality in the cup that they can. Not squabbling....

            Mal.

I dont understand why possible issues with the delivery of the SmartGrinder shouldnt be discussed in this thread. Isnt the performance of the suppliers of the grinder relevant to this thread?

Perhaps- however the gripe was more the performance of Australia Post. i think we need to be mindful that the overwhelming majority of transactions are smooth and dont generate thank you posts.  :-?

One complaint from hundreds of smooth transactions can give many readers a skewed idea of the actual performance of the vendor.

My opinion is that a public gripe should be an absolute last resort and if youre not prepared to say it face to face, dont hit the post button either.

If one sponsor us using a shipping method that leads to loss and others are not then thats an important factor in the purchasing decision.  Its not just one gripe, its two actually, the SmartGrinder I ordered from E61 was also lost in the post.

I believe that in this case a public gripe WAS a last resort for Jesterx, didnt he say he waited four weeks?

Im not sure what the last part of your sentence is leading to, sorry.  Can you elaborate?

No need to really. Its not an observation on this specific thread, more general net etiquette.

It seems to me OldBeamer like youre just here to stir the pot. So, I urge you to stop being such a PITA.

I think that Chris meant that people become much more trigger-happy, when hidden behind the wall of anonymity provided through interactions online.

Theres no need for personal attacks Jay. Thats totally unwarranted. I only asked for clarification.

And Im sure wed all happily oblige if what you REALLY WANTED was "clarification". Unfortunately, as indicated below, you seem to end your invaluable posts with rhetorical questions, drawing parallels to a small, rebellious, tantrum-throwing child, who has nothing better to do than to question authority, merely for the sake of questioning.

                            Hardly....

Theres no mention that Andy was ever contacted....

Mal, I didnt know Andy served as an arbitrator in these cases. I never would have thought to contact him about a dispute with another business.

Only so far as Site Sponsors are concerned mate, as a business relationship exists...
