Re: Breville BCG800 Smart Grinder
Picked up my BCG800 yesterday to replace my EM0450, and its doing a great job. Right from the outset I could see and feel the difference in the grind quality and consistency (at least I think I can!)
The shots with the EM0450 used to stripe a lot... for example by about the 22-25 second mark, as in about 5 seconds before Id stop the pour, when most of the pour was starting to transition to a lighter tan, there would almost always be a obvious and significant dark line in the pour, indicating some grinds had not been properly extracted.
This is considerably reduced with the BCG800.
Only problem (so far) is one that had been mentioned by a few users earlier in the thread, and that is clumping.
Im finding I get quite a lot of fairly solid, clay-like clumps coming out... more than what I did with the EM0450.
Im wondering if it just needs a few kgs under its belt to wear burrs in? How have others who noted similar clumping found things have panned out after a few weeks/months of use?
