Just purchased one of these and it has given me much delight! Ripper machine and it looks great on the bench!!!

Couldnt recommend it enough to anyone looking for a new grinder. It has increased the taste of my coffee 10 fold compared to my crappy bcg450!

Like you after having a sunbean grinder(forget the actully one it was) then going to this made a big change in the coffee i drank.

I have just bought this grinder and am still playing around with it to get the best grind for espresso. Having followed this thread I am interested to know where to find the "batch" number for the grinder I have. One of the above posts said that it is on the base. On mine there is no such number. Only BCG 800

On mine (1149) its below the model number on the base of the unit but stamped into the label rather than printed, so you have to look quite close.

Is this grinder consistent enough at coarse settings for french press; Id mainly be using it for that and mokapot until the day I can afford an espresso machine comes around. So the apparent ease of use looks quite promising.

Also where is everyone getting the extremely good prices of $175-180 is there a sponsor that sells at that price?

Hi everyone I am a newbie to the forum just updated to the BCG800 from the 450. I have a Breville dual boiler also after reading all the posts which I have found to be great help but I am struggling to 30ml in 30 sec with the single wall portafiller changed the beans fresh from st ali,  filled the yard with grinds however I can only get the right result using dual wall pf the grind settings from 20-24 for the single wall and 17-19  for the double wall pf the double wall is ok the single wall often is very slow and times out 90 sec should i just use the double wall pf from now on ? or is my coffee bad /old ? smells great! Hope you all have some constructive suggestions?

I assume you are using the double shot filter and not the single shot

Rusty just to correct this, the single takes 14 grams so Maxey should definitely be able to get 30ml in 30 seconds easily, I do this every single day.

Maxey weigh your beans before you grind them, if you go to the BES900 thread a few pages (Ill go and have a look for them and put the link to the page here) back I have a set of photos showing what the single basket looks like with 14 grams in it with and without the tamper.

I have my grinder set to between the second S and the O of the word espresso on the lcd screen, depending on the bean type and age.

Calibration is different with a lot of the grinders as we all know, Ive never needed the extra shims or less shims from out of the box but I have seen others lately that have theirs set in the same position.

OK Guys I just weighed the pf with 7 grams hits the lower sides of the single wall pf should i add more coffee say 10mgs? to match your photo?
