    Yes. Thats a strange one.
When the beans run out theres some beans left on the bean stopper, so i do what you do.

How do you find the quality of your coffee trentski?

Dont have the Compak grinder, but on my Macap I have a similar thing with the gate. If I pull it straight out , it stops short leaving a little ledge. I can then move it away from me or towards me and then it will come the rest of the way out. IE: On an angle.

Might try and take a photo tonight to illustrate a bit better.

In our case fatboy, the ledge goes out halfway and it wont go any further, so it looks like its stuck halfway. Im not sure if its meant to be that way. It does retain a fair number of beans, about 8 beans sitting on it looking like theyre crowding to take turns doing the half turn pike into the diving pool.

          Re: New Compak K3 Touch!

Well I took delivery of my new Wega mini instant (rebadged Touch) the other day and I have to say double-o-latte, I can relate to what you were going through. I spent a large amount of beans and some very frustrating moments trying to get the right setting for my machine (Gaggia Classic).

The most frustrating thing I found was the fact that the burrs kept on getting gunked up even though I only adjusted the collar while the burrs were in motion. As a result, I had to remove the adjustment collar and de-clog a few times. Im still experimenting with the settings, but Im getting closer.

One thing I read on another post regarding the metal position indicator, was the fact that it is used to position the adjustment collar when reassembling the upper burr. Can someone elaborate on this? i.e. position it with reference to what?

Mine doesnt open fully either, I get a little bank of beans above it and I wiggle the stopper to get them down the chute
            A little discovery today

All this time i had the bean stopper halfway out, today i pulled it further and found it can go all the way to fully open.
So for those with K3s, keep pulling the lever all the way out past those 3 nasty little nodes, and presto, you have a fully open hopper neck.

Thus far i have not found the need to adjust the grinder too often apart from a mm to the right or left depending on how old or how light/dark my beans are.

            Love my K3.

                Hi there MNSTA,

Trying to decipher what you mean.
My first impression was you have a mathematical genius of a coffee bean thats helping you line up the planets.

                  Hi Gary

My K3 has four dots with a coffee bean at the end just above the word coarse to the left of the shute I use the bean as a guide to allign the numbers on the dial.

                  Thanks MNSTA

I find the left over beans on the ledge are like my emergency supply when the beans are low ...... sort of like the break glass option for the grinder world!

                        Re: New Compak K3 Touch!

Good to know you benefited ROs.
Its a bit like having a better breathing extractors in a car ehh?

Me thinks you would have a good half shot in a single basket Sir Stink in times of famine, and i can certainly relate to that, and youd still get a better cup than supermarket emergencies.

Theres been times this grinder do have a mind of its own, just the same as Rusty discovered with his.
There are days when its quite cold, and the pre-programmed shot mode under-doses as well as clumping into the basket.
If theres a minimal amount of beans in the hopper, it grinds finer than i prefer under those cold temps too, resulting in a choked shot.

Im ok with that. Being a tweaker by nature, its a matter of periodical maintenance of burr cleaning, and moving the collar a couple mm either way depending on the temps and the roast result of the beans.
