Re: Mazzer v Macap
I once weighed a couple of doses- out of curiosity to see how much I was dosing and also to see if I was consistent. Consistency is a touch harder to achieve in a couple of shots at home- rather than many, however I think some may be using weighed dose as a cover-up for inconsistent. Nevertheless, if you wanna do it, go for it.
We digress though.
I still see the value in the M4D over the others suggested by the OP. Bigger burrs in the Mazzer mini-e makes in no quicker than the doser version as they are very passive in their cut.
The Macap M4D is 2x as quick and accurate in time and for a similar spend. No wonder the mini-e needs a p/f rest. You can cook your eggs while you wait!
Regardless of whether you can get 1/10th second accuracy with a screw rather than digital timer, speed wins every day. IMHO, the M4D competitor is actually the SJ-E and it is a good grinder.
Maybe the timer on the mini-e improves with age. Out of the box its no better than the K3T and you can have 2 of them for one mini-e. Its a compelling argument.
