  • Can somebody identify this mazzer grinder?

I am interested in buying this grinder as a showpiece but just wanted to get more of an idea on model and year if anyone can help me out?

    Thanks, Shane.

Its a Mazzer (obviously) doserless grinder roughly equivalent to Super Jolly. Mestre is a district of Venice where Mazzer must once have been based.

Id say made in the late 60s but Im guessing. It will be a 64mm flat burr.

Its not the original hopper (would have been glass), making it practically useless as a collectible I would have thought. Still cool though. Expect to pay an arm and a leg to have it shipped!

It is relatively cheap considering. All up shipped works out much cheaper than I could have imagined. I had a look on the mazzer website and if you look on the history section (in company section) it looks the same as the nuovo star from the 60s. Thanks for your help about the burr size i really appreciate any info I can get. I plan to restore it as best I can while still keeping it genuine and original. If anyone knows where a glass hopper as would have come out on this model or any parts for that matter could be purchased from I would be very interested.

      Thanks, Shane.

I didnt end up buying it in the end. The seller quoted me n postage and then when it came time to pay he miscalculated the weight and wanted to charge me almost double. It still would have been worth it still I think but its the principle. Shame though I did like the look of it.

This guy must have had a lot of interest from CoffeeSnobs members. He quoted me 190 Euro for Air or 80 for Surface shipping.

Im glad i didnt go ahead with it though after hearing the trouble you had with the seller!

Yeah he originally quoted me €45 for surface or 110 for air then changed it to €75 or €190. It was quite a difference. I didnt really plan on actually using the thing too often anyway so couldnt justify the purchase in the end.
