Wow, 6 is a low number. I rarely use mine under 9.

I also just bought this grinder the doserless one and really love it when I first took it out of the box I made the mistake of not finding zero just where the burs start to touch which eventually with the help of a friend I found to be 1 and ended up setting it at 6 that was after I learnt to hold the mill container and the release button simutaneously due to it spinning way past 40. Found a lot of answers available on YouTube.

Evening Keyansep, my advice is not to mess with it, it's a brand new machine and you don't want to do anything to void the warranty.
Take it back to the retailer, explain your problem and let them sort it out.

Top burr not screwed down correctly...? Is there a manual around that will tell me how to check this?

Hi brett, I've managed to get it grinding to an appropriate grind its sitting on about 6 now i think, what i am confused about is the fact that ican spin the hopper beyond 40 and i think the problem was i turned the hopper when the machine was off? Yes i could hear the motor but it sounded really odd and no beans would go through. I think i was just puzzled because it was new i thought it would grind straight away on any number grind.

When you say it won't grind between 0 and 10, is the motor on but sounds like it is seized? Or is everything going, but no beans grinding?

My initial thought is that the top burr might have been unscrewed at some point and not put back in correctly. If you can set it at 11, turn it on and whilst it is running VERY SLOWLY turn the dial towards zero, see if you can find what is sometimes called 'True zero'. This is the point where the burrs just start to touch. If you do find this between 0 - 10, then we can look at other things. If you DO NOT have this happen (burrs touching) then I would suggest perhaps the top burr is not screwed down correctly.

Also, what beans are you using?

    Brett.

It won't grind when it is between 0 and 10 and it grinds what appears the same courseness between 10 and beyond 40. I am very confused
