Help to buy a home grinder
But seriously those of you talking about longevity. How many kilos do you grind.
I have vario and have had the mazer the vario is lovely to work with
no grind retention and buy no I don't mean just a little bit I mean none
the steps are tinny and easy to adjust
The timer is the easiest to work with I have seen
And the grind quality is unique no climbs almost fluffy
In the cup I taste no difference
On the bench it's tinny with a better build quality than I was expecting
It is not a commercial machine but I am not a cafe

That's the same reason I'm having trouble deciding.Originally posted by Noel View PostRustic, I am fairly technie type of guy but even though the Vario board etc is cheap to swap. Im just not sold yet. i know it has good reviews. I mainly drink espresso based drinks so I went for the Mazser mini at same price as the Vario. The main reason was it will last a long time and for some reason i want to sell or update then I will get a better return than the Vario (my belief).
Has anyone here compared the espresso from a Mazzer Mini and Vario?
Also how does a Mini stack up to the Super Jolly?

Ok got it figured, I have bought a Mazzer Mini from Coffee Parts Sydney (great price). I will use the Mazzer at work and bring the K3 home which is better that that piece of junk Sunbeam.

It's not my intention to highjack this thread but I'm in a similar situation to the OP and wanting to upgrade from a Breville BCG800.
After reading this thread a few days ago I'm seriously contemplating getting a Baratza Virtuoso Preciso which costs $330 from a non-sponsor
The Preciso has a lot of good reviews on other forums and it's claimed to nearly match the Vario in grind quality for an espresso grind and even surpasses the Vario for coarser grinds (i.e. press, filter...)
This review has nearly won me over but I would really like some more opinions on this grinder versus the Vario and maybe other grinders in a similar price range ($350 - $650)
If there's anyone here who has used or owned one of these Baratza grinders what do you think about the build quality?
I know it's not built to last like a Mazzer but can I expect to get at least 3 years of service from a Baratza?

If ur happy with a K3 why not another with a small hopper, or is that still too big?

The Vario seems to be getting some really good reviews lately, Its probably what I would buy if I were buying a grinder now and I currently have a mazzer.

G'Day,
I recently purchased an Iberital Challenge, the choice was between Iberital, Compak K3 and Kitchenaid Mill with Mezzer bur upgrade. It was not a price choice but a size / availability choice and went the Iberital.
Three weeks in and I am happy with the decision made. Great for micro adjustments being stepless and pretty good value at the $330-350 mark.

size wise if you want something smaller than the compak the vario is definitely the best way to go. the rocky's size is about the same if not bigger

Help to buy a home grinder
Hi
I want to know if you can help. I want to buy a grinder for home. My
old one is a Sunbeam EMO480 conical burr. I am looking at the Rancilio
Rocky Doserless or Baratza Vario burr grinder. I mainly drink espresso
and have a Compak K3 that I use at work but I thinks its a bit big for
home. i want a decent tuneable grinder. Can anyone help with any
suggestions or hints pleaseTags: None
