    Ola

Coming from the land of insane I bring you another update, this time its a movie!!

Heres how the doserless thing works. I still have some stuff to do, for example the front cover, but most of the hard things are done. I will try to fit a base tomorrow and I have to buy some wire mesh to make air holes.

Enjoy (sorry for the poor quality):

    Hi

Thanks for the kind words people Yeah MDF is pretty good when it comes to clumpless grinds, but still the doser annoys me.

    Heres a small update:

Looks like an elephant doesnt it?

Yeah I will add ventilation holes and make sure nothing overheats. In fact I already have a forkless base that I use now, might as well use it on the new case

So everything is PCV now, all I have to do is sand the edges, glue it together and see how it works.

Youve definitely got me thinking of ways to make mine dosserless now
Yes yes mod it!! the dark force is strong

    Cheers,
    dsc.

    Impressive work!

I would also sudgest some ventilation hole at the bottom of the case (as per factory case) to make sure the motor has plenty of cool air and doesnt over heat.

Very good. I have found that even with my bog standard MDF I have no clumping issues at all.

    Hi everyone

Ive got a small update. Ive tested the new cardboard shoot and it works good, the coffee slides down into to the PF and there are almost no clumps. Below you can see how the plastic case looks like. I know its not pretty and it looks like an elephant or some wierd alien machine, but it should work Im wondering if I went to far in the whole "mod anything you can" extravaganza.

    Cheers,
    dsc.

Re: going doserless with my MDF

    Hi everyone

The MDF is pretty good at getting clumpless grinds, although the doser makes quite a mess on the counter. I mean its all good when the basket is empty, but when it fills, the coffee coming from the doser hits the surface and smashes making a mess, is this normal? Its also annoying to keep hitting that doser arm all the time. Im going to try out the new case (with parts temporarly in place) and see if it clumps a lot. In case it does, its back to the old case, if not I will work on it some more.

Anyway here are two photos with the grinder inside the new case:

It has a temporary cardboard outlet which can be opened to clean out the grinders inside outlet. I will test it soon.

    Cheers,
    dsc.

    Hey dsc,

I have a doserless Rocky, and get lots of clumping, hope you arent making work for yourself that wont solve that problem.
However, never having used an MDF you probably know best what youre after, and you would be able to customise some parts after some testing.
And no doubt the finished unit will be quite a nice job if your carboard mockup is anything to go by.

started a topic going doserless with my MDF

    going doserless with my MDF

    Hi everyone

I know that theres already a modification thread for the MDF, but I decieded that this mod deserves a new topic

Im planning to turn my MDF into a doserless grinder. The doser drives me crazy and Im already using a WDT distribution to break the clumps, so I can remove it. I tried to modify the case of the grinder after removing the doser, but its not possible without cutting out big chunks of plastic. So what do you do in a situation like that? Build your own case!! ;D

Below you can see a simple cardboard mockup model:

All I need to do is build an exact thing from 0,5cm PCV and add three screw holes inside to fit the motor and the grinder. More photos to come soon.

    Cheers,
    dsc.
