I think the point is not whether or not TT or ACA are reputable as news sources but rather the appearance that a HUGE market out there listens to them, mouth agape, slight drool in the corner as they watch their daily dose of exciting "Little guy against the Giants' Reality TV... While we may not be members of that market, it seems the Corporateers do get concerned that millions might see them as the bastards they are, so I see nothing wrong with making use of that situation to get decent treatment.

And if we don't complain and use such pressure, the Corporateers simply get away with it - the way to get change from them is to start hitting the bottom line.

Apropos of which, if you want to talk to Sunbeam or any other company to give a complaint, don't bother with the Service folk (unless you are specifically directed to them to locate your item) talk to Sales. THEIR jobs RELY on said bottom line - tell them you have the power to affect that and they will act. They KNOW about the ratio of bad PR to good PR - an upset person will tell anywhere from 10 - 100 people about their bad experience. A satisfied customer will tell maybe 2 - 3. And you can NEVER catch up with Bad PR so the rule is, don't let it happen.

Don't let them put you off, start talking and don't stop until you mention, 'professional coffee web site with 23,000 members, ACA and TT contacts etc.

And if it comes down to it, you contact TT first - I'm pretty sure them being able to show how ACA stuffed up would add a certain urgency to their reports - "Look what ACA did, and look how WE fixed it"

I saw that LM in a magazine the other day definately on the wish list but unfortunately that is also named "wife is never going to go for it list" Not that I have a lazy 7 grand in the coffee budget. Is good to have something to aspire to though so thanks for that Luca
Actually, I think that its going to be under 6 grand ... not that that makes much of a difference! I guess if you were thinking of paying RRP for a single group ECM veneziano you might spring for it, but, even so, its pretty out there.

I think that the first four Australian buyers will probably keep very quite, lest someone break down their doors!
Probably not...full bragging points there. Who in Australia has an LM for a home machine

Im sure hell list them for you, but if you want bang for your buck (if your budget extends that far) then look at an Expobar Leva.
    Or ... or ... or ...

Careful; if youre the type thats susceptible to upgrade fever, dont click here, whatever you do.

If you couldnt resist and clicked there, Ill wait for your phone call at work. Its only a matter of time ;P

    Cheers,

    Luca

I will be buying a serious machine after this one, but am happy with the upgrade from the old basic De Longhi machine.
Some might argue that it is a serious machine...

Yes, considering what I had before it is, and Im happy with it at the moment, but do think that there is better out there. One or two complaints with this machine that a more serious (only word I can think of) would have is a bit more grunt behind it to pour a serious brew, as I find the one I have now just doesnt seem to put out enough to have the brew pour with the consistency of honey, which is what it should do....from what Ive researched and seen on programs that have Baristas talk about methods.

No, its ok for now, but a hard plumbed and one with a bit more oomph behind its pouring, and a bit more robust in design will be the next one, yet to decide though, as there are so many on this site that people say are the best.

    Re: Be warned about Sunbeam

I hope your stuff ups with Sunbeam are over Dr T, but I must say, as a Sunbeam 6900 owner (De Longhi grinder), I have had it for a year now and not problems, and must say, if the hangers on I thought were my freinds paying a visit are any indication, my coffee is spoiling not only me.

I will be buying a serious machine after this one, but am happy with the upgrade from the old basic De Longhi machine. It does need a thorough clean out (backflush...which Ive got to do a bit of research on for this), but aside from this, not a glitch.

And to defend Sunbeam, maybe states are different, we sent an item to sunbeam for repair and when it arrived, they phoned to say it would be fixed gratis (out of warranty) and given a 6 month warranty on work done. Most helpful and very nice customer relations, so my guess is it just depends on the area your dealing with.

I do hope you have better luck, as it spoils the delight we all take so seriously, great coffee........
