This post is quite old and I no longer have this grinder, so I can't tell you with authority but I'll try.
I'm not 100% sure I understand what you're asking but if I understand you correctly you want to know how to remove the top burr so you can clean the grinder?
If so, once it has been disconnected from the power supply, you should try and twist the top burr carrier (the part with the red numerical scale) anti-clockwise when viewed from above and keep going until it comes off completely. You should then be able to clean the bottom burr and grind chamber.
Is this what you were asking?

Restoring an old Quickmill Omre Grinder

I have a very similar Quickmill Omre and cannot seem to adjust the grinder calibrations -that is, the dial stuck as I have not changed the grind in some time. Can you instruct me on how I might fix this without completely taking apart the grinder? Any help is greatly appreciated. You have done a beautiful job on your restoration and I applaud your results. Thanks

Ok so I finally got an hour or so to put it through its paces. I have only put about 200grams through it trying to dial it in. I've managed to get it pretty close - just trying to work out a technique as this is my first doser grinder and I haven't yet got the portafilter holder made up.
It certainly looks shiny next to the Vibiemme and the doser mechanism seems smooth and sweeps fairly clean I think.
I certainly got some very nice looking pours - tonnes of crema, from only day old beans and tried it as espresso (which I don't normally drink but am trying to broaden my palate). The grinds seemed very fluffy.
I've got it on the kitchen bench and will play with it more over the coming weeks when my work load reduces a bit from what it is now.
Of course, I have more photos....

This last one is a bit of an action shot. I thought there is way too much shiny stuff not being used the way its supposed to so this one's during the first time frenzy..

Thanks very much for the kind words, I might try and take a video of the 'first grind and dose'.

Amazing, congrats!
Looks a total treat, love the styling and design, especially the 50's 'lolly shop' look to the bean hopper!
Nice work.

Agreed - top rate resto
. I think you'll need to don the white gloves prior to grinding

wow mate just wow
that looks stunning almost too nice looking to use it, interested to see how good the resulting coffee product is from it (likely once the burrs have bedded in a bit)
all that chrome and lovely glass... I love shiny new things, but I love shiny restored things even more

Another update on the progress...
It has been a little slow of late, the bottom of the doser had to go back to the chrome shop for another try as there was an 'airlock', which left an unsightly nickel spot. All good now though.
The doser lens has been cut, shaped and glued and has turned out a very good fit - I just need to tidy up the glue spots at the join a bit to make it more presentable.
I've ordered the portafilter holder from a laser cutting shop. I have the grinds tray which is an acceptable solution but I'm not entirely happy with it as is because it can move around a bit too much.
I guess its now time to fire it up and see what its' like. I probably do so in the next couple of days when I get time. Here are some photos of the shiny almost finished product...

Ok, I got the parts back from the chromers - on the whole, really impressed! The outer sections were chromed and where the grinds come into contact with the doser chamber and sweepers it has been tinned for food safety reasons.

Items still to tackle are the doser lens which I was waiting until these parts returned so that I could cut the polycarbonate lens to size and also the portafilter holder. I've been having trouble finding someone to fabricate the portafilter holder. The only quote I've had so far is $125 + GST which does make it quite prohibitive unfortunately. I've put a WTB in the for sale section to see if someone has one lying around they no longer need - this is quite a long shot but, you never know.

Still waiting for the Doser parts to return but in the mean time, the new burrs have arrived and even visually you can see the difference in sharpness between the 2 sets.
The first picture is of the old burrs:

These are the new 54mm burrs:

The next photo is of the disassembled doser mechanism. Quite a few parts - with plenty of springs, bearings and screws!

The last one if of the shot counter - I took this out and gave it a bit of a clean up. It wasn't counting when i took it out, but it appears that the black lever pin just needed tightening so that the ratcheting mechanism worked. It's a little cleaner now. Shot counter said 2132 before I started cleaning. Hard to know exactly how many doses have actually occurred though.

Turns out that the original doser lens appears to be a flat piece of plastic that is riveted together to this piece of metal with a twist that also serves to break up the grinds as they exit the chute.

Just a few more photos of the main body section all cleaned up just awaiting the doser.

Hopefully not! It sounded fine when I initially switched it on and tested it - Once its fully cleaned I'll assemble it and assess this more.

Congrats, Pretzal, looks absolutely beautiful. Presumably no wobble in the motor and bearings which may spoil things for you? Hopefully not.

Well an update to this thread - things are still moving along albeit slowly now as other day to day life has taken precedence.
The burrs are still in transit from the US. I have sourced a sheet of polycarbonate from Acrilix Plastics that I intend to use to fix the missing doser lens - we'll see how that goes as the plastic will need to be bonded/riveted which the original one seems to be. It's that or buying a 3mm thick clear plastic tube (120mm diameter) and cutting out a small sliver to reduce it to about 117mm that I require. Less certain about this option as the internal diameter might be insufficient to allow the doser sweeper to do its thing.
The chromers have the pieces I'm getting quoted to re-chrome. It seem the parts are aluminium which doesn't take to being re-chromed very well. I may have to get the chrome removed and polished instead. They will call me tomorrow to discuss my options.
Just missing now is the portafilter holder, but this looks relatively straight forward to fabricate if required.
The stainless steel body polished up a treat by hand so no need to get this professionally done as the improvement would be barely noticeable for a large investment.
I'll post some more photos when the doser section is finished.
