If you're interested I've got a set of brand-new unpressurised Breville baskets (1 single 1 double) and a stainless-steel tamper that fits them nicely.
$40 + p/h (postage shouldn't be much from Tassie as the whole lot is <500g)
Reason I've got them is because I bought a Breville Cafe Roma for $30, ordered the baskets and tamper, then came across a Gaggia Classic for cheap (58mm baskets/tamper) before they arrived so never used them.
I also have a Breville CG10 burr grinder I don't use anymore but unless you're really strapped for cash I suspect you'd be better off looking at a SmartGrinder or similar.

Well done for walking 10km to get a coffee machine, that definitely qualifies you as a true coffee snob!

Hi,
I know you are looking to go low in price for a grinder. If you do however give us a ball park figure on what you are willing to spend to get a grinder it will help. For all we know you may want to spend between $100-400. I will say though after going through many grinders, the lowest I would go now knowing what i know (not thats its much) is a Smart grinder. Mind you I feel like a broken record saying this but I dont think you can turn down a Compak K3 for price they are...
Regards,
Chris

The Smart Grinder is arguably one of the best bang-for-buck grinders at the moment. It's considered the next step up after the Sunbeam Em0480, which is regarded as the ABSOLUTE minimum and entry level espresso grinder. A lot of CS'ers here use the Smart Grinder and from what I've heard are very happy with it. Alternately, you could look into a hand grinder, such as the Hario Skerton, or the Porlex (something...), but I'm not sure if these give as consistent grind as the Smart Grinder. I use a Skerton for my aeropress (courser grind than espresso), and it works fine.Originally posted by shoffecop View PostOkay so hello everyone.
A little story, on thursday night I put an ad on freecycle for an espresso machine(I've wanted one for ages but never had the funds) if anyone had one they didn't want.
I got an email offering me one right near my area. A 10km walk later I got my machine and home I went. I am now the proud owner of a bes400. It works perfect as if I just bought it brand new and took it out of the box and they even gave me a tamper
.
Anyway I am currently not really rolling in the dough even though I want a grinder. Firstly i am planning on buying Single Wall Filter Set | Breville this. Does this fit in the bes400? Everyone told me getting these baskets is a much better idea.
Secondly what is the lowest I can go for an espresso grinder? Or should I just save up and go a little all out and buy the breville smart grinder or something? I could actually get that cheapish at the good guys cause my mum knows people

Or should I even get a better one?
Thanks lots
Hope this helps,
David
