    Mazzer Vs Macap

I've also got my m2m dialled in at about 3.125 for a batch of Jaspers coffee. Last week it was on 3.25 when they were a little fresher.

Previous batch of proud Mary I had it dialled in to 3.75.

    Heaps of adjustment.

Under 2.75 on a fresh batch and I choke my Vibiemme Domobar.

I prefer the stepped adjustment on the m2m as the granularity of adjustment is fine enough and its easy to remember settings from previous uses.

I incorrectly thought the increments were 0.25 increments as the 0.25 increments are marked on the dial.
I found out there are actually 0.125 (8th increments) which is cool.
I started at 3.5, im now on 3.25 pulling the right amount of coffee at 9bar (according to the dual boiler 920 pressure gauge).
I might drop to 3.125 on the next round of coffees as I like my shots to pull about 9.5 bar and usually a little restricted (say 40ml in 25 seconds) depending upon the roast.
I attribute the need to grind a little finer down to the grinder wearing in, ive done about 600g of coffee in it now since brand new.
I found my old Smart grinder took about 2 months to 'wear in' to a point where it was very stable and over that period I gradually decreased from 12 to 6 on the front dial with the burr set on 6.

So there is lots of adjustment left in the M2M. So far im loving its consistency and im getting better at dosing without making a mess on the bench, very happy.

For the health of your grinder, just remember that the numbers on the grinder collar are measured on an interval scale (i.e. the you will get 'burr on burr' action well before you get to zero/1 on the scale), and that the 'espresso zone' will vary across different M2Ms (mine for instance would be 'burr on burr' at your settings)
      Cheers

Not as yet. I'm working on improving the skills before the next upgrade. I think the operator at the end of the portafilter is the weakest link at the moment. I do like the M2M for its size and stepped mechanism.

Macap are a little cheaper that Mazzers and quality is just as good. Sometimes better. My 2c worth.

                Hi Sam

Ive been using an M2M for a while now and love it. its compact and stylish (I have the chrome version) but most of all it does the job. The steps are very small and I don't have an issue with dialing in grind fineness. I also don't have an issue with clumps with the beans I've used to date.

I have just changed from a Mazzer Mini E back to a Macap M4D. It's good to be back with Macap. The biggest plus is the winding grind adjustment mechanism. It's so accurate compared to the Mazzer. Also, grind speed is so much quicker. Back step but back to the best.

Me too...We are selling just as many black as chrome these days.

The M7D is also now available in black.

They're both awesome grinders. The Macap's fine adjustment is what wins it for me. It lets me accurately change grind setting back and forth when toggling between 2 beans. I just couldn't get the right with the Mazzer.
