Hi Skaramoosh
Your original question was if the Sunbeam EM0450 will be able to support a Silvia <even in the short term>.
I say YES. Once the shine of your new Silvia comes off in a few months - perfect Christmas shiny-new-grinder treat shopping time ;-) No point being financially stretched since you already have a grinder.
I was running a 04 Silvia with a EM0480 for many years with great results. The only modification I did was to shim the rotating burr up, to allow for a finer grind. If yours hasnt been done, that will make a big improvement, and the silvia does get fussy with regard to grind.. and tamp... and temp... and technique.. and, oh stop it.
Your making a great move with the Silvia -something that will keep it fun for you for a long while, so take your time with the grinder for now. what you have will work just fine, and then, when your ready, go get the new grinder.
