I have recently added a Mazzer Mini E doserless to my bench .I replaced a Gino Rossi RR45 and find the ground coffee to far exceed the Rossi .The E controls suit me to the T as I use 3 different sized baskets and the manual control is my best friend

+1 here too, i have the EM6910 and am really considering the Mazzer Mini...this thread only makes the waiting worse - although it is tax return time, so could be closer than ever for an upgrade

started a topic From EM0480 to a Mini Mazzer

From EM0480 to a Mini Mazzer

So a mate of mine who has a mini mazzer has gone away for a little while and he has kindly let me borrow it whilst he is away I currently have a EM6910 and 0480 combo which I thought didn't pair all that badly. And given the right grind and dose then you'll get a pretty decent coffee. Well I thought this until I broke out the MM.

First difference, the doser. Now I am a barista and I have worked with doser grinders before so that's no biggy. The only thing is, which is a tad annoying, the grinder likes to slide around on the bench top when I dose like I normally do on the Kony at work. So I just thought gentle thoughts :P

Second difference, it needs new burrs..it can get clogged quite easily and It is an ex Vittoria grinder so I'm assuming they haven't been replaced in its life :P

Third difference, CONSISTENCY!!! I can pull one shot after the other and it is completely the same! So different to the 0480 where I'm living on a prayer for every shot :P

And the biggest difference is in the cup. Even through milk it is better. The shots are coming out a lot nicer and are blonding a lot later. It tastes phenomenal. I'm not a usual black drinker but when there is no milk in the household I usually have to grit my teeth through a long black but this time I actually thoroughly enjoyed my no milk coffee today! It is amazing what a difference a consistent grind can make.

So, when my mate comes back parting with it is going to be hard. But I now know exactly what grinder I'm going to upgrade to when the wallet allows me to. A Super Jolly.
Working...
