  • Spooky Compak K3

Not sure if anyone has had this problem before?

My K3 has decided to grind on it's own without any input.

It would grind for a number of seconds, stop, then re-commence grinding for the same amount of time, then stop, all by itself.
It would go on like this until I turn off the grinder at the plug.

When it happened , it had already ground the whole 70 odd grams of KJM,s finest.

Figuring it is a electrical fault, does anyone have their own experience and solution?

Which version is it? Touch or Push? I have the "push" without the timer and I think that paddle switch is a bit light on IMO. I imagine with the touch, if the switch was a bit dodgy it wouldnt take much to start a grind.

Is the random grinding as long as the timer preset (most likely single) or something entirely different.

Edit: As a side not, I almost ALWAYS change the main power switch to off when I am not using it due to how light the paddle action is.

It's the Touch version with the switch for off, on and timer.

I have lifted the paddle to create a space between it and the sensor, and it still grinds on, then off and repeats itself.

It does sound like it's stuck on the dose pre set stage.

Assuming its still under warranty, take it in to get it serviced.

If its out of warranty, probably wouldn't be too hard to fix (or convert to simple push and scrap the timer).

Obviously there is the danger of 230V power inside, so if you aren't sure what you are doing definitely don't open it up.

          Did you find a fix?
I've never mastered the timer and use mine as a simple push all the time.

The problem seems to have gone away for the time being, which is good news.
Will wait and see if it ever comes back to haunt me.
From now on the grinder is being turned off at the wall when not in use, just in case it turns itself on in the middle of the night...

Sorry missed this post coming up so im only replying now. I seem to have the same problem. This may sound somewhat weird however my K3 seems to start up all by its self when other appliances start running.I have two separate power points in the wall each with two points making four and the grinder is in its own one. So im wondering if its a vibration thing???
