Cheers, I appreciate it (though I sold the grinder last year). I wondered if that was the case but I couldn't find any way to hold the motor shaft in position so that the nut could be loosened.

There is nothing that actually locks the carrier in place , its held in under tension with the washer and nut.

The piece doesnt look familiar but this might help - http://www.compak.es/docs/K6_D.pdf

    Hi Josecho,

The burrs themselves should be easy if the design is similar to the K6; just wind the grind out all the way until th top burr and carrier lifts out, then unscrew the burr bolts and replace (same on bottom; they should be exposed when you remove the top section.

If they're not significantly similar then you could look for some exploded diagrams online, perhaps on Compak's website.

Hi mate, did you have any success finding help for this? I'm currently trying to replace the burrs of my old compak k8 and don't know where to look for help.

    Cheers

    Jose

Anyone intimate with the guts of a Compak K6?

After I picked up a refurbed K6, first order of business was to strip it down and inspect it (as well as get rid of the extraneous bits like autofill etc) and it's left me with a few questions...

How do I remove the lower burr carrier from the motor shaft? It appears to screw on/off but it doesn't look like there's any way to lock the shaft in place.

I also noticed that everything was tilted slightly in the housing (possibly only since I tore it down and reassembled it). Is there a way to adjust this or is it normal?

Finally, if anyone recognises this, let me know, because I can't figure out where it lives. I'd hoped that it was a spacer for the mounts (hence the tilted motor/burrs) but no dice. I couldn't find anything definitive on the available exploded drawings either.
