Good combo. Pair with some good beans and you'll be really happy.

I have a Kyocera ceramic grinder and am quite happy with it.

Thanks guys, the porlex does look like it would be quite good, I might get one of these + an electric one. After reading a bit more I'm leaning towards a Bartza Encore, which was going for about $160, anyone here have any experience with this?
Sorry if these questions have been asked 100s of times, I'm new to making my own coffee in any way that's not instant coffee.

Worth considering whether you want a hand grinder that will sit on your bench top or something small and portable that you can slip in a bag/backpack and take anywhere. If it is the later, would definitely recommend the Porlex.

Any hand grinder will be suitable.

HG-1 would be like spending $20k on bolt on bits for a Hyundai Excel. Some would say it's a ridiculous thing to do.

Porlex/Kyocera/Hario et al will be more than adequate. There is no need to spend the money on a Spong for other than the look in this instance.

If you can get your hands on a Spong they are the best of the cheaper range of hand grinders, I use it often with my machine for espressos.

I have been told by people that have 'used them all' that the HG1 is brilliant at the top end of the scale.

Looking for advice on a hand grinder

So I'm going to be buying a Moka Pot in the next few days, and I've been researching as much as a can, and I've found out I'll need a better grinder than my $10 grinder from K-Mart.

I've heard the grind for Moka Pot's has to be quite coarse but I have no idea what sort of grinder to look for. Would something like a eppicotisai hand grinder be adequate or would I have to pay a lot more for a decent grind?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
