Grinders - Pls Add to my understanding

Curious as to what differentiates a Mazzer or Macap from another lower value grinder like the Compak K3p??

I have the K3P which for me appears toi be a very good high value unit. The Mazzer / Macap are 3 x the price.

What does this level of investment get me?

Note I'm not buying a new grinder just want to increase my understanding

It should be noted that mazzer or macap VS a K3P are CERTAINLY NOT 3 times the price when comparable models are....compared.

It seems you may be comparing the price of macap M4D or mazzer mini electronic to that of the K3P. These are not comparable models. The K3P doesn't have the programmable electronics and all that entails. Don't know about mazzer but macap does have a bare bones M4, and while it may be say a couple of hundred dollars more than a K3P, that isnt 3 times the price.

After that....Basic difference between the brands at the lower levels will be the build quality

For home use a better comparison will be the K3P Vs the Macap M2. Very comparable price, better standard of design and build on the Macap especially the adjusting mechanism, but smaller grinding plates (58mm Vs 50mm). Can anyone actually tell the difference in the resulting coffees on a blind cupping?

Funny that, I cant do blind cause I have to make the coffee, but I have been doing side by side K3P / M2M and I actually prefer the taste of what the M2M produces. As a bonus its also a quicker / cleaner grinder.
