Kompak K3 Too Tight, Won't spin.

So I just took delivery of a second hand Kompak K3 Touch but it's put together too tight. Even with both burr's removed, the disk below the bottom burr is rubbing so tight against the bottom of the grinder, the motor won't spin. I've tried freeing it up with a socket and extension but it's way too tight. Cannot move it by hand.

Does anyone know how this disk that houses the lower burr comes out? I've removed the Left Hand Thread centre nut and assume the disk too has a left hand thread that you spin until it comes off. Am I right in thinking so?

I've attached a picture of where I'm at. I know as soon as this disk comes off, the motor will spin freely. Just need to get the bloody thing off! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess it'd be held on by that small flat nut or whatever it is on the motor shaft. Have you checked to see if perhaps one of the sweepers is jammed against the side? Seems like a bit of strange damage, something must have really happened to the grinder to jam up at the base like that.
The only reason you would need to touch that baseplate would be to change the motor i would imagine. The motors are very reliable, don't think that would have been the case.

Did you buy this second hand from a dealer or private sale? Was it advertised to be in this condition? I'd be checking with the seller if I were you.

If it doesn't spin, its damaged. You have either been sold a dud or it became a dud in transport. Perhaps someone tried to grind a nail or screw. Pulling it to bits ain't likely to fix it.

I managed to get it off. I had to remove the bottom plate of the grinder off, unscrew the timer circuit board and get some vice grips around the bottom of the motor shaft, once removing the cooling fan. Managed to tap it off gently, with a ball-peen hammer and a small timber block, so I didn't damage the sweepers. It all looks quite new. No sign of wear. Time to put it back together.

Good luck. Something had to have happened to the grinder to have this problem in the first place. I'd still contact the seller if you can and explain what had happened and see if they can offer an explanation.

So for the sake of helping anyone else that ever has this problem with their Kompak K3, the issue was the rubber spacer that sits over the centre shaft, giving the sweeper disk a gap to spin freely. This rubber spacer is worn down, causing the sweeper disk to come in contact with the bottom of the grinder. The motor doesn't have enough power to spin it. I threw a copper washer on and put it back together. It spins now, but still too tight.
Will make a trip to Bunnings this evening, after work. There's bound to be a nice thick washer for the job. For now, I have to use my old faithful Sunbeam Conical Burr.

I got this grinder for the right price, so I'm not that fussed. Just keen to play with it, haha.
