K3 Touch stopped dead

Hello fellow snobbers,
I am in need of some advice from those who understand the inner working of a grinder better than I. So yesterday I made my morning coffee as per normal no problems, the grinder was working perfectly (as she has over the last four odd years). Went to make a coffee in the afternoon and nothing...I clicked my group head against the metal flap.....silence..... i cheeked to make sure i had not bumped the grinder mode swich at the back....I had a look at the power point all fine. It is not even making a sound to suggest it is getting power. Am i looking at a dreaded motor burn out? any ideas? anything i can try?

Plenty of time for sinister, expensive possibilities later....

First, just back off the adjuster by a considerable amount (a 1/4 turn should be enough) and see if it will start.

You have most likely choked it. Go a whole heap coarser and run the grinder to clear it. If that doesn't work, you will need to disassemble, clean and reassemble.

Hey Tok and Chris, thanks for the responses....I am away from home for the next few days when I get home I will give it a course run. I have had choking issues before..but normally it gives some sound a low ‘whirring’ or ‘buzzing’ sound. Whereas the silence when I last tired my grinder was defining.

So I got back today and cleaned the K3 out, Chris and Tok were correct it was just a bad choke. She is back to working order. I have never had a choke that seemed to stop the unit like that nor from such a small amount of beans would of been lucky if i had 40g in the hopper.

I'm not familiar with the Compak, but does it have a motor start or run capacitor? If so, an issue with the capacitor could result in less than full power/torque. I assume it shouldn't stall with such a small amount of beans in the hopper, even for a domestic grinder
