The mini-e is definitely slow... What's the view on how it stacks up on the other factors? It's the only grinder I have and have had so I can't compare but I've been very happy with it, seems to make great tasting espresso, very well made, looks good on the bench. funny how one is so relative, 10 seconds hasn't killed me yet

I like the mini-e so much that I'm seriously considering deleting it from range.
It's sort of a case that the SJ-E is not so quick for what it is, so they have to make the mini resemble a sloth- so as not to show it up...
The mini-e would be good value at about $800 new.
PS to Charlie. The Macap circa 10 sec for approx 18g double.Last edited by TC; 28 December 2015, 12:14 PM.

I know the Macap M4D is faster although I can't remember how fast. When we last did a speed test with the Mazzer Mini E (19sec) the Profitec Pro T64 was set to produce a similar shot with the same coffee and filter basket and was set to 6.5sec.

I have no experience with this grinder, but here is one of my favourite quotes from Chris at Talk Coffee
I cannot live the the glacial slowness of the mini-e. It's sort of like they fit the portafilter rest so that you can go cook breakfast while you wait.

I had a Mini E set to 19 seconds for an 18g VST once. Not exactly a speed machine ...

It depends on how coarse the grind is set, the finer the setting the longer the time. It is a matter of trial and error, I have a Mazzer Mini E set on number 3 and 14 grams is set for 18 sec

anything from 20 to 40 secs has been suggested for the M Mini !Originally posted by Melbroaster View PostIs there a standard time for this one to grind an 18gram shot? If Mazzer doesn't specify a standard, what would you expect from it?
